Guess What?
Hey,
Guess what? I received a letter earlier this week. Well not a letter, an e-mail. It was from a magazine editor. Which Magazine you ask? Why it was Reptiles magazine! The editor wanted to know how much experience I had with Chinese Water Dragons. She also wanted to know if I might be interested in writing an article for their sister publication Reptiles USA. (you know, the annual edition of Reptiles). Judging from her initial questions I guess I should have asked how she heard of me, 'cause it doesn't seem that she was all that familiar with my experience. Gee, and I thought I was pretty much a household name in the reptile world by now. ;-) Just kidding! Anyway, if they accept my article, which is due by April 1st! (yes I'm sure this ISN'T a joke, I think ...) I'll be in good company judging by the authors listed in the 2005 edition of Reptiles USA. So, I guess I'll write up the article as soon as possible and send it off. Keeping my fingers crossed that they do use the article in Reptiles USA. At the very least if they don't use it for that edition perhaps they will use if for as one of their articles in the monthly Reptiles Magazine. I'm pretty sure I wrote for Reptiles Magazine in the past. I can't remember now. I haven't written any articles for magazines or herp societies for a long time, but I have written a lot of them. Oh, I can include photographs with my article submission. I have tons of pics of my dragons and plan to send them several, BUT if you have any really good pictures I'd be happy to look at them and perhaps send them along with my article. The pictures need to be sized at least 5x7 inches at 300 dpi – TIFF, JPEG or EPS. What I would like you to send, if you wish to, is close up pictures of healthy looking water dragons- perhaps an adult male, adult female, some babies, juvies too! If your cage / vivarium is shown in the picture make sure it shows all the necessary items for good water dragon care - water area, UVB lighting, branches, good size enclosure etc. Remember this will be a water dragon care article- so healthy animals and fantastic enclosure set up pics only. If they use the article I will be paid. If I send any of the pictures that you guys send to me and your pics are used in the article I'm willing to send you a small fee for it's use. I doubt it will be much, but that is something I can do if your photo is used if you'd like me to. I won't get paid until the article is published ... so it could be a wait. I'm not sure when Reptile USA comes out. I'm thinking June or July but I could be wrong. Tricia
