hay all
I just got my first iguana bite, though I dont think she did it on purpose. I was hand feeding her some repcal pelets and she got a hold of a finger holy cow did that hurt, and when I pulled my finger away she looked at me like wht the heck is wrong with you.. man what an experence!! i guess its not if you get bit. it is when you get bit.

I don't know about iguana bites, but I've had quite a few snake bites in my time. When people ask me "Do they bite?" I have to say any animal with a mouth can, and probably will, bite at some time or other. (this includes dogs, cats AND people!)
With most animal bites, I think humans are usually somewhat at fault: not paying attention when feeding, or exhibiting some sort of body language that provokes or frightens an animal.
Wash the bite with warm, soapy water and chalk it up to experience!

I hope they were SOAKED Repcal pellets.

Guess the iggy broke you in early Mike. So far my only bite has been from my Bearded Dragons,,,tryin real hard to keep it that way to, lol

Why would you try to hand feed something as small as a pellet? Use a whole collard leaf and let it tear pieces off. Keep those fingers back.

You can also try rolling some soaked pellets into a leaf and feeding the ig that. An ig-stogie if you will.

it wasnt like I was feeding it one by one I had a hand full of them and she was licking them out until she got my pinky finger
