Herpaholics Anonymous
Hello,
My name is Beth, and I am an addict.
This is bad guys, I am really addicted to herps, mostly cornsnakes and ball pythons, now that I have had them, all I can think about is more. Every time I look at our budget the thought comes into my head, "I can afford another snake". This is really bad. My husband came up to me today (remember, he's new with reptiles) and said that he wouldn't mind having 100 snakes. I was like "WHAT?!?!". He's got the bug too! So far there is no plans on getting any more herps yet, but that's what I said before the cornsnake, and then before the ball python. What will it be next more snakes, or geckos?(Oooh, I didn't think of that before!!!)
Help me!!!! What do I do, stay off the internet and avoid pet shops?
Ok so maybe this post is a little dramatic, but come on, I know some of you feel the same way...or IS it just me?

LOL!! I'm with you! The only thing that stops my hubby and I from having more is space....we already have a houseful.

lack of space and th need to make sure I have the time to give everyone the atention they need (handling cleaning, feeding and preparing food, staring at them in fasination etc.) keeps me from going over board
atleast I havnt gone overboard in my mind, my mom may think otherwise

Jade, you have 26 herps on your list.
The first step is admitting you have a problem..LOL
At this point there is no plan to get anything else. I really want this baby orange phase corn snake (that's what the breeder called it anyways) that I found for $25 but I'm restraining myself and deciding that two snakes and two lizards is enough for now. It's not that I don't have the room, I do have limited room but my mind has already worked out how to set up rack systems and such. It's that I need to hold back, these guys all live a long time and each one of them is going to be like having another kid. I'm focusing on making all my herps have the best habitats I can and the best stuff rather than getting more.

Just take life one herp at a time...haha
I'm glad i've run out of room, there are so many lizards that I lust after, but knowing I have no where to put it keeps me from taking it home.

I don't care what anyone says. There is no cure. If there is; I don't want to know anyways. I have been trying to go through the 12 steps for over 50 yrs now and have yet to make it. Every time I got near I would be saying,"Only 2 more to,,," oooh look at that one!"
I have another year to go to have raised 6 children and as each left I looked at it as more herp room. No, not really, but almost. You can look at it as an optimist. If you see a herp that you really realy like, buy it because the opportunity may never come again.
If it turns out that you change your mind later you can always just send it to me and that will also give me the excuse that I just HAD to provide it with a home.
