To any MS Word gurus, computer on the fritz, near emergency conditions
Well I am hitting the end of my school term and am having the usuall computer troubles. I swear these things sense stress and deadlines.
Last night I had two crashes due to hardware (power supply dieing) and I am not fully trusing my laptop so I am writing my papers to a USB drive. I also don't fully trust this solid state memory drive. Does anyone know how to get MS Word (2003 if it matters) to save a copy to two drive locations everytime I tell it to save. I would like it to save both to the hard drive and the USB drive and right now I am saving to the USB and then copy the file to the harddrive. thanks

Mark, Steve may know if that is possible...I am lucky to just get on Herp Center LOL....he will prolly be on tonite...unless someone else here can figure it out for ya. Have you given thought to emailing it to yourself and then printing it like at the library??? or even emailing it to your professors...my sis in law has done that in a pinch...from my computer LOL...Lyn

I'm still activly writting this so I am saving regularly to the USB flash. I usually zip and email so it is on a server until I have enough to reasonably dump onto a disk. Thanks though

Well the paper is done and computer fixed but thanks for the help. I was saving then copying the newly saved file to the backup folder.
This computer has a chronic problem with the ports breaking solder points and I instantly knew the problem. After I turned in the paper I cracked open the laptop and resoldered the port to the mainboard. As a word of warning, never buy an Acer laptop, they're junk. At this point I want to find an auto backup utility to actively image a few folders between my laptop and my USB drive -- thing is I am cheap and don't want to buy an expensive program. This will allow me to have my files portable as I move (yes this is a laptop but it is a 15 pound behemoth that does not move well).
