Dead creastie in petsmart....

I went to petsmart to get some crix and I was looking to see what types of lizards they had, and one of the employees decided they wernt going to put the creastie all the way back, it had its head sticking out..all the way and she put the screen back on and rolled it back into the wall....needless to say its neck was broken..all the manager had to say about it was go get a bag....they opened the cage back up and its neck was squised but it was still alive and tryign to move...it was th emost horrible thing I ve ever seen!!

Hello,

What did they do with the Crestie? I am taking it that the employee wasn't paying attention?

nonono..the employee was paying good enough attention..she was very skiddish around the herps...she shouldnt have even been handeling them as far as im concerned...i freaked out and started yelling at her once I realized what she did and she jumped in front of the enclosure and was like nothing to see here nothing to see! trying to hide the what had happened and the manager came over and said go get me a bag and he pushed it off the top of the enclosure onto the ground and it was trying to move around still...at that point I had to leave cuz I was about to show him a thing or two about pain..i suppose they therw it away..i dk...i had to share that with you guys tho..its so cruel!

Contact your local SPCA and tell them what you saw. You can also contact the corporate office of Petsmart ... just look it up on the net and send them a letter.

Maybe you should carry a digital camera with you when you go to the petstore ... if you had it with you and snapped a pic that would have been great evidence for the SPCA.

This is really really upsetting. If I were you I would have stayed, and the manager would have found out what pain was!! I dread to think what has happened to this poor lizard now - unfortunately I doubt they thought to take it to the vet and have it put out of its misery humanely. (FYI topacelot, it has been researched and discovered that freezing is absolutely cruel and slow and is not a humane way to kill a reptile - I just wanted to get that in incase others think it's a good idea).

I hear so many of you complaining about cruel things you've seen at Petsmart - if every single person reported this company to the SPCA then perhaps something would be done about them. These people should not be allowed to deal with animals - ok, mistakes can happen, but they should have taken the lizard immediately to the vets, not left it to suffer. Please please, if any of you witness animal cruelty - REPORT IT!
