soothing gecko's

I have been holding and letting my AFT walk around on my bed, kind of like letting him exersize. But one thing I have noticed, I rub his head and back and he kind of stands high and arches his back, But I'm taking that he likes this. I feel like its a way that I can unstress him and it helps him trust me more. Does anyone else do this?

lol, I think arching his back usually means the opposite. Its a defensive posture I'm afraid. Lizards generally just don't like being touched. Some will tolerate it, and som people believe some enjoy it, but the vast majority do not.

Well I won't do that then, for all I know its plotting to get me in my sleep.
One question I have for you Mr. Furryscaly- I noticed your location is Ft. Meade MD.
and I took a wild guess that you are in the Military, I checked your profile and looky there your Air force!
Sooooooooo, I being military am wondering, how do you keep up with all of those reptiles and spiders and such? Are you active or reserve? Because if you are reserve I can see it then, or like I know a few air force guys that have real cushy jobs that have time to do such?
Just wondering, I never could find time to do such ( being deployed all the time) but if I could, that is what I would like to do to keep busy!!!!!!!

I don't keep the majority of them with me right now. When I moved, I had to leave most of my vertebrate pets behind in the temporary care of my brother and sister. I keep 3 turtles, several toads, my painted frog, fish, and all but three of my invertebrates here with me here though. I'm trying to get moved off base so that I can move the rest of my pets down with me, but so far they won't let me. I am active duty, but off duty I have plenty of time to care for my pets. Fortunately, the invertebrates are pretty low maintinence. Space, and rules, are the only reason I don't move my other pets down.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news about your gecko. In the wild, nothing good would come of a large creature touching his back, so it's imprinted in his mind to feel threatened by foreign touch. If he were in the wild, the only things touching his back would be the claws of a bird or the jaws of a snake or lizard.
