Non herp-like hobbies!

i was wondering what everyone else does for fun
aside from work - taking care of family - groveling at your herp masters' feet and giving in to all their scaley whims...

what do you do with the other 15 seconds left of your day?

i enjoy me some video games!
also love tinkering with 'puters... but nothing needs tinkering now

need to finish my personal box - but dont have the $$$

I have a thermaltake case
an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU
Mainboard to support it that also has SATA controlers and raid ports on deck
1024 MB (or 1GB) of PC 3200 Ultra Dual Channel DDR
Seagate Cheetah Ultra SCSI 2 HD with SCSI Adapter card
different cables fans

this stuff alone has been over $1000

i still have about $800 of stuff I want to finish it!

I have been very busy school this semester but when time permits I like a variety of things. In the summer I like to surf and in the winter I like to skateboard, I do both year round but I dont like being extremely hot or extremely cold. I also play in an adult soccer league 6v6 year round and we have 1 game 1 practice a week, we usually practice drinking beer , my whole team is in a fraternity and they love to drink.

When its nasty out (like now) I play my ps2 or visit herp center and a couple other forums occasionaly.

I do alot of reading about spirituality, leadership, and snakes. I play guitar. I write fictional books on metaphysics, I play volleyball. I write alot, period! I enjoy any outdoor activity as well. It's only very recently that I have deemed myself an official nerd. Eh, what can I say? I dabble all over.

an example of free time expendetures from my end is this:

today - i will get off my computer nerd job at 5 - walk a half a mile to where I am parked (hey -the half a mile is better than $10 a day!) - drive another half hour to 45 mins to get home - even though it is just mere miles away ::grumbles and curses rush hour traffic:: i use this time to just kinda...kick back... and enjoy some tunes while scopin' the scene of downtown richmond...when I get home - i am to tend to herps - handle some... and then - dig the old Dell laptop out of the bedroom corner and load Slackware Linux version 10 from the new ISO disks I made today...

and since I have trouble sleeping even when im dog tired (bit of an insomniac at times) and havent gotten much sleep latly - i will once again do as the dr orderd and down some tylenol PM - standard dosage is 2 pills - DR says as long as it isnr EVERY night - i can up to TRIPLE that dosage - for the sleep meds in it... i usually pop 3-4 and am fine (i am a big guy - so thus it takes more to really "affect" me...) - OTC sleep aids have different meds in them - and are habit forming... Tylenol PM is non-habit forming - but the large intake of acetamenphin (the drug that IS tylenol - the "pain killer") is harsh on the body - so I avoid this whenever possible - but it is getting bad because I am always ready for bed when its LEAST convienient...
example...i was sitting here at my desk today at 10am... doing the mind-numbing task of cleaning house in a database... and actually dosed off for about 10 mins...
i NEED sleep at home - so I am figuring itll be 8 or so when I decide to lay down and surcome to the meds...

but as you see - my day leads as follows
1. frantic scramble to care for herps before work - get cloths on - shower? - where are my keys?!?! Darnit - dead heat lamp!!! - crud! - low on gas again?!?!
2. Half mile trudge to the office
3. computer geek job
4. Half mile trudge back to truck
5. surprisingly appeasing ride home
6. herps...
7. computer geek hobbies
8. herpage...
9. TYPICALLY video games go in here for a couple hours
10. More herpage...
11. our evening hour of TV (we watch the show will and grace at 11:00pm each night M-F for the double episode)
12. herps...
13. bed...
14. wake up - wash - rinse - repreat....

oh what eventful lives!!!

Side note*****

this be about tylenol of all things - and why its dangerous
starting off - what actually causes most headaches is the consrtiction of blood vessels in the brain - this constriction can be brought on for so many different reasons...but it prevents the amount of bloodflow your brain needs...

so how does Tylenol dubbed "the headache medicine" help this?

quite simply - tylenol thins your blood so if "flows" easier...
the more you take - the THINNER it makes your blood - and if you take TOO MUCH - it defeats the purpose - because it thins the blood to the point to where it cant sustain the amount of Oxygen saturation your body needs....bad bad BAD

on the other hand - you have alieve - which is neproxine - works wonders - lasts a long time - but eats away at the lining and walls of your stomach over time....

I play video games (not a lot, but as often as I can), read a lot of books, and mess around with my laptop. Right now I'm trying to save up to build another one, I want to mess around with Linux, but it's a pain to switch between windows and linux whenever I have a problem. I've got SuSE, and it's good, but I'm still a n00b, despite me messing around with it for 10+ years. Other than that, I like to go to the bar and hang out.
