Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

I decided that it was high time to start breeding some of my own feeder mice and rats again (hadn't started back up yet after getting rid of all of them for my last move) so on the way home from working all night I stopped off and got 5 males and ten femalemice, and 2 male and 4 female rats (I'd set the cages and stuff back up over friday and saturday). I set the four plastic containers on my counter by the door, and went back out to the car for the sack of dog food I had bought. Carrying it in, my elbow caught two of the containers. All I heard was a soft thud, and the sounds of 60 little feet scurrying off in every direction. Luckily, I only freed the mice, and not the rats as well. I managed to get 4 males and 6 females back, but that leaves 5 MIA. Maybe it will be funny later on after I've slept, but right now I'm very cranky.

Oh no!! It will be funny tomorrow, not as funny as someone letting 1000 crix loose in their house (and one of our members did), but pretty funny.

LOL.. watch the food in your cupboards, my guess is they'll be near there

By the way, off topic, but why do you feed your feeder rodents dog food? Some of the dyes in dog food can be harmful to reptiles, and specially designed mouse and rat food would be far better for the rodents, with a mixture of fresh fruit and veg, and dry foods like bread and cooked pasta. Kind of like the live food we feed our lizards - what goes in to them goes in to the reptile,. feed them the best diet you can and your reptiles will also reep the benefits.

Take it easy, and try to find them in a hurry, or you could have some problems. Little problems that'll turn into bigger ones as time goes on if you let it.

Thanks for the advice, everybody. And it's ok to laugh ;-).

Also, Bitis Gabonica, the dog food was not for the feeders, it was for my dogs. I picked up some mouse and rat seed mix things, and some pelleted stuff the breeder buys by the truckload, some of which is now sitting in a few humane traps placed around the house, while most of my food and other pet foods are now in locked tubs.

ETA: Only 4 are still at large! Another female was out in the open when I woke up this afternoon.
