safe plant?

Is this plant safe to put in my White's tree frog viv? It looked like a type of philodendron but it wasnt labled when I bought it. I just want to make sure it's safe before I use it. [IMG][/IMG]

That's pothos. Its an excellent vivarium plant, perfect for your frog habitat. They're hardy and grow to fill a terrarium nicely. I've had one in my tank for several years.

Hmmm I thought pothos had the oval shaped shinier leaves....I would have thought a philodendrum type also....Lyn

Philodendrons and pothos are often confused. Pothos does have heart shaped leaves, but unlike philodendrons, which are green all over, pothos is mottled with white or yellow.

Philodendrons:

I'm not 100% sure what you have there. If plants had scales, then maybe I'd know a bit more about them Either way, philodendrons are also great plants for the viv. If you find out what species it is, I'd be interested to know, cause I have the same plant and always assumed it was pothos.

OMG! Our ID Meister is stumped!
It's not Pothos. Its called arrowhead plant Syngonium podophyllum!
And its fine to use if you have washed all the chemical residues off.

lol, so its neither pothos nor a philodendron! I'll stick to doing animals, Merlin can take over the plant IDs from now on

Haha Matt you weren't even close . Even I knew this one, but my plant ID skills don't come close to your animal id's, it still fells good to stump you on an ID though

It's fine to use, it likes it moist and can be cut down and will regrow smaller and more compact, more suitble for the viv.
