Some people in the past have expressed that they would like to donate to HC. We had since added a PayPal donation block.

As the sites expanded, we decided to improve on the donations block and the functionality behind it. We installed a new modification that now has set goals for each donation.

For an example, please see the donations block on the homepage. It is located in the lower left hand corner.

You will notice that it displays what the "Monetary Goal" is, what it will be used for, and how much of the goal has been met.

It also links to all of the sites donors and displays an "award" beside their name.

In addition to that, it creates a "Donor" image besdie the users profile picture in their profile.

The user has the choice to display that they are a donor or not by entering their UserCP, and choosing User Options. It is the second listing from the top.

This system is 100% automated. From the time I installed it, it will display all users that have donated, automatically. It also adds the award and image upgrade automatically.

For those of you that have donated in the past, please send me a Private Message. I want to manually add everyone that has donated in the past. I know I am missing people, but I have done my best with what paypal info I had available and added those I could find.

Hopefully this new system will help expand the network of sites. Since its opening yesterday. we have reached over 60% of our goal!

Yesterday Herp Center set its first goal to reach through donations. Unbelievably, the goal of $260.00 was reached today! This money is designated to the newest site being developed. This covers the initial server costs,domain registration,and vBulletin license. Each of these items are renewed yearly.

I want to give a special thanks to Dominick, Herpmom,and Jay DeMore for helping us to reach that goal in such a short time.


As you may or may not be aware, each year all of the licenses that allow me to keep these sites up to date with the newest versions, and best service I can offer,etc. need to be renewed.

Each site requires me to renew the vBulletin license. vBulletin is the software that we use for creating the forums themselves. If we don't renew the license, we no longer will be elligible for updates, code corrections, and upgrades.

Then there is the domain name. The domain names are the names that we type to get here. In order to keep your domain, you need to register that domain every year.

Then there is the host. The site needs to pay for hosting so we can be here. As you can imagine, these sites require a lot of bandwidth to run properly. Bandwidth does not come cheap!

So to help offset the costs of this, I am placing $1,000 as the sites newest goal. This will cover a nice portion of the costs associated with the renewals.

I realize how massive a goal this is, which is why I am setting it now. The licenses associated with the sites don't require these funds until January. Hopefully we can meet this goal.
