Im back from florida, with pictures
well I survived 2 plane trips and have to admit that being able to see clouds and lightning storms from above was fun. The whole trip was a lot of fun. first I spent a week on the beach of the gulf of mexico relaxing under an umbrella and swimming in the clear water(i guess thats why the towns called clearwater). then I spent eh next week at the zoo.
My first day we did the usual safari where we get in the back of a truck a drive around the velts where their are 3 types of zebra, giraffes, ostriches, impala, eland, ibex, storks, cititonga, bongos, black & white rhinos, water buck, wildebeest, and kudo. we feed the giraffes and eland when we're out there. Day 2 i had birds west, where I made food for the birds worked with lories, cleaned the walks and moats. and helped feed the birds in the free flight area and the parrots.we fed the iguanas and torts, we didn't get to feed the komodos but we got to look in through their back doors. then we had nothing else to do so we went to birds outback to look at the birds there and see the gharials and tomistoma. then on the way back we stopped in to see the leers macaws which are off display because their highly endangered, they said they where worth around 5 million each. Day 3 we talked to people from africa online for out project of the week which was on illegal bushmeat. the people I talked to in africa found it amusing that I had lizards as pets we also went to seaworld not much excitement we were only there as guests so we walked around and baked in the sun most of the time. day 4 i went to rhino hippo, that was great besides the poop scooping, my councilor almost got peed on my a rhino and then since she jumped out of the way the pee went right into the open door of the zookeepers truck, we got chased my rhinos on the velt when we went to pick of their poo out there, we got to feed the hippo and some birds in that area too. day 5 i got the velt where first off we got to watch a knock down on an eland. thats pretty much when they tranquilize her they took blood and fluids from her knees because they where swollen and she was limping a lot. they wanted me to pull a fecal (meaning they want me to put on a glove and go into the rear end for the sample)!. but eland aren't effected well by tranqs and she kept kicking so I got out of that one. after that I got to see the bongos (my favorite animals on the velt) feed the giraffes and clean up the old hay, and bottle feed a young giraffe that had to be pulled away from her mother last year because she wasn't producing enough milk for her, if anyones seen "Thats My Baby" on animal planet that same mom had a baby on that show, i fed the baby that was on the show from the safari truck last year . my councilor wasn't feeling well after lunch so I spent the rest of my day in the animal education department, where we fed sone birds of prey then took a ball python out into the park where guests could see her and ask questions and that sort of stuff, then we feed the crowned crane and went back to the dorm. day 6 i went to animal care where we take care of all the education animals and off display animals that and kept in the same area. i got to hold and clean up after hedgehogs, an opossum, my VERY favorite snake in the zoo dagwood the yellow ratsnake, a huduran milksnake (beautiful snake!), a common boa, several young alligators. and touched but didn't hold and indigo snake. she was a bit moody so no one was allowed to hold her but we pet her and she's the softest snake i've ever touched. theres also a monkey tailed skink, a blue tounge, leopard geckos, a large salamander (marbled or tiger I'm not sure) scorpions, Ts, roaches,a cuban tree frog, a ginuea(sp?) pig, a lemur, a 2 burmeses pythons in education. that day go cut short after lunch as well because we had to go see the chimps birthday party and present our bushmeat projects to the public and hopefully get some education spread about it. after that we got free time in the park which is a lot of fun when you have your camp t-shirt on they let you skip the line for rides. day 7 i woke up got dressed, ate breakfast and waited for my mom to pick me up.. i'll get a photo buckut account or something tomorrow if I can to put all the pictures in but for now pic 1 is tonka the baby bongo pic2 is monster the rhino iggy pic 5 is kana sleeping pic4 is the beautiful dagwood and pic five is butter cup the burmese i had to crop and shrink everthing to make it fit teh size requirments but i'll have full size one ups when I get photo buckut or whatever I get to display them with

Sounds like you had a blast! Bongos are very cool looking antelope, one of my faves, but so hard to see in the wild. The sally you saw was probably a tiger if it was large. They get about a foot long, marbleds stay small. Next time take me with
