lake taal snake
I posted this under general forum as I could not define the correct one for this. I read today an article on the Lake Taal Snake, also known as the Duhol. That inhabits freshwater and is one of only 2 sea snakes that do so. It is only found in Lake Taal, WHich is a landlocked lake in the southern portion of the Philipine Island of Luzon. It has very limited exportation to the pet trade and no captive breeding that I am aware of. It is more of a local delicacy due ti a high fat content, has anyone ever heard of this species and if it can posssibly be obtained in the US

I couldn't find anything on captive breeding programs.

Ken, I did a search on this, and came up with a couple of websites.. i believe the snake you are talking about is the Hydrophis semperi which is a venonmous snake. Check out this link.. Lake Taal
Hope this helps a little. Unfortunately I cannot advise you as to where you could get one sorry!
*Edit.. sigh Jay beat me to it again!*

the article I read makes no mention of it being venemous. It was from the book
"Snakes " by Johan Marais

Since according to the site mentioned sea snakes frequently are very specific on prey. That could make feeding one VERY interesting. Not to mention housing one!
Your best bet might be contacting some of the folks that specialize in hots.

As far as I know ALL sea snakes are venomous. I passed the question on to some advanced hot keepers on another list and we'll see what pops up.
