oh boy, Im going to Florida?

My mom wants to sign me and my sister up for a week long animal camp in florida where you go to seaworld and bush gardens and work with the animals and stuff but the problem is im terrified of going on an airplane and its the only choice I have, it go and the airplane and go to florida or stay home while my sister goes. im not sure what to do, i really want to go but im scared to death, and its not even the flying that bothers me but im afraid of crashing I know they dont crash often but when they do you die its not like being in a car where you have a chance
i guess maybe im being silly but its almost like a phobia I cant help it

dont worry, i was deathly afraid of going on a plane, and this summer, i HAD to go on one, my parents were making me go for a family vacation,

yours is only from PA to FL, so it wont be long at all, mine was from CT to AZ.

i was scared at first, so I didnt sit near the window.

then after a while, it was ok, because the clouds were making it so I couldnt see the ground clear, and I wasnt scared anymore

the only bad parts are taking off, the turbulence(normally there isnt much) and landing.

i wouldnt worry too much, just like, listen to a CD player.

and normally its all good in the end, most of the time you have fun.

so, just dont worry.

Hi Jade-

GO! Grab the opportunities in life and take them! Eventually, you'll get over your fear of planes. Then you'll end up regretting all those missed trips.

"Fear is the mind killer........." Never let it get in your way.

"You must face your fear, allow it to pass over you and through you....."

Do whatever you must, but don't say no and don't stay home.

I travel for a living. Many people who are afraid to fly and eventually do, end up loving it!

Take it from an old 40 year old. You never want to look back and have regrets. You only get each choice in life once.

Some of the best, most awesome and fun times in my life were when I said the heck with it, forget all the worry, and just did it.

Nike put it best:

Just do it!

Jade GO FOR IT!! You may never get this possibility again! Don't look back later after your sister tells you how much fun she had and think, I wish.....

The first time I had to fly I was scared silly! But it passed quickly!
I gotta send you a pm with the story!

Definitely go for it! I'm terrified of heights and falling but I used to rock climb regularly! (Still would had it not been for the weight I gained after quitting smoking and a second child!) Do NOT let this chance pass you by. Flying is very safe, more than we'll ever know. It's hard b/c you always remember the bad news reports, but seriously, out of how many flights that occur all over the world, every day... CAR accidents are more common... Don't worry about a thing! You'll be sooo happy that you went! Go for it!

Jade- GO TO FLORIDA!

When you are on a plane it kind of feels like you are travelling in a car. maybe you can fool yourself for a short while into thinking you are in a car.

As everyone else has said- you shouldn't let your fear of flying stop you from going. It sounds like you want to go to Florida and if you don't you will probably regret it.

Hey, I have an idea ... some airports offer classes? for people who are afraid of flying. I think it's just a couple of hours. I'm not sure what they do to help people who are afraid but it might be worth checking out. Not sure if it's free or not but call up your local airport and see if they offer anything.

My husband is also afraid of flying but he still flys occasionally. Actually the last time he flew he must have looked really nervous and I think when the stewardess asked him if he was ok he must have told her how stressed he was feeling so she bumped him up to first class where he would have more room to relax. Now you know how to get a first class seat.

oh yeah becuase seaworld was booked for my age group im going to be in a group for an extended stay so i'll be there 2 weeks, im a little disapointed about missing out in the whales , my sister still gets seawolrd im going to have to worry about her she's not a great swimmer and I dunno she might be afriad to go in the water with the dolphins
now I just have to figure out whats going to happen with my herps I have 11 currently that all need to be fed and cleaned up after and my poor female saharan is still very nervous she still runs alot unless I talk slow an quite while im putting the food in , she just loves getting a drink though, i guess in the wild they drink water that drips off plants becuase the only way she'ss drink is if I use a dropper and slow and steady drip it on something and she gets annoyed if I drip on her

There you go Jade. You may even get to enjoy flying. I was terrified of flying but when I went into the army, I ended up not having a decision. In the end I spent 10 yrs as an airborne ranger, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. So come on down and enjoy your stay.

That sounds like an awesome opportunity. I wish I had been able to do that when I was younger. In all actuality it is more likely to die than in a plane crash. With the airlines under heavy watch and such high standards today you shouldnt have to worry. I have flown atleast 40 times and the only thing I worry about is my ears getting all clogged up. Hope you enjoy your trip I know I would!!
