What should be my next reptile I decide to get?:)

As some of you may know, I have sold three of my leopard geckos. One being in a 30 gallon fish aquarium. It has quit a large height, length, and width too. I was wondering what you would think would be a good reptile that would be good for a medium experienced reptile keeper and down.

    A few notes:
I would prefer something that is a little less common with alot of keepers
Sub NOTE: Doesn't have to be uncommon.

A reptile I can keep in a 10 gallon tanks 20, 20 long, 29, or 30 gallon it's whole life or move on from one to another...
    Doesn't have to be arboreal

An active or semi active reptile.

    Temperement: Anything will be accepted

    Price: $10-$100

I am looking for lizards and or geckos. I have many small- medium tanks available in the basement. I can probably handle two of something...

Ofcoarse before Ireally make my choice I will do all of my research and wait a couple months. If you would be so kind to tell me where to find the specific reptile For example, what site. I will be ever so greatful.

Is UVB, heat, or humidity an issue? There are a lot of choices for you out there, although you are a little limited with the enclosure sizes. I too enjoy the less than usual herps. Downside of that is that care info is harder to come by, as are CB animals. Skinks can prove interesting, and aren't as common as Leopard Geckos and whatnot. One of my alltime favorites is the flying gecko. They're fascinating and its much easier to find caresheets. There are probably more small geckos available than any other type of lizard.

Good idea. WC reptiles are an issue. I really have had a bad experience with most wc reptiles I have had. I would really recommend cb's. I have seen zoological imports sell flying geckos but they are I believe 9 dollars and most likely WC. Awhile ago I was searching google and I had a hard time finding care sheets for the flying gecko. Could you show me a care sheet for them or maybey two? Have you had any experience with these geckos? If so, please tell me why you find them fascinating.

EDIT: My mind is not in the right place.... Another problem insomniacs have... SLEEP!

hereis an edit of what I meant to say in a shorter way of saying it... Or something....

    Uvb/UVA is not an issue.

As long as I do not have to maintain a basking spot over 105 I am fine.

    Humidity is no issue

Wc's are an issue, somewhat. I would mostly prefer cb or a very reliable service which sells wc with a good reputatoin for selling wild caughts.

All these threads on what should be my next reptile, you should wait to see if its one you really want and give your love to, and not going to sell later on cause your fed up of it, I don't know if this is the case but it seems like it, all my babies have a special place in my heart and wouldnt part with them for any price, why did you sell your gecko's? and now you will consider new gecko's, just don't get it, it would be like me trading Ozzy for another collared, NO WAY, or selling Oscar and jerri just to get another gecko, hmmm, maybe not, you should think long and hard of what you really want, weigh up whether you will have the time to care for it properly.

Ok, off my soap box now

I would go for a collared, if you really want a good lizard, they arnt very popular and are a joy to keep, good luck with finding what you want.

There is still a warm place in my heart for them. They are at a friend of mines house. A new friend I made at a pet(WHO)????? recently. I make visits to her house to see how they are doing aswell I go there to check out her other cool reptiles.

I did not get rid of them 100% because i was bored of them. It was also because I decided that I have enough leopard geckos and should have experience with another reptile. besides that, I already have three of my favorite leopard geckos in the world with me as it is. Ofcoarse I never give theml to anyone I do not trust 100% to care for my Leopard Geckos properly.

I believe I said I would give it time up above. The exact time was just an estimate. I'm not really sure how long it will take me to decide. I am just asking for ideas on what you would think would be a good reptile for me. I will do research on these herps and see if I think this is a reptile I really could enjoy for a whole life time. I assure you this is not just a case of "OH THATS A COOL REPTILE! I'm GONNA BUY IT" things... It's more of a " HMM LETS DO MONTHS OF RESEARCH ON THIS REPTILE AND GET OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS ON THIS HERP"

EDIT: I forgot to copy and paste certain parts that I posted this on another board. The estimate was 2-3 months of research I believe. Anyways the reality of it is that i have a life time to think of what reptile to get and just wanted some ideas to boost my mind.

It's too late. I think i'll give a try sleeping afer staying up for another whole entire day...

Thats good to hear, I know you give a lot of time to what you already have, we have spoke a lot in the past, I just couldnt understand why you would get rid of 3 gecko's to buy another thats all, I wasnt getting at you, and I will give opinions where I can on what you decide, like I said, collared lizards are good, and I know you have shown an interest in them once before, they are easy to keep, although they do need UV, hope I didn't offend you, its just a lot of people talk about empty tanks and what they should put in them, it should be a commitment not just a case of filling a tank.

    Controversy

The "what sort of reptile should I get" question seems to cause a bit of controversy: I understand Donna's point of view and agree that it would be wise to find out what animal really suits and interests you instead of buying just to fill empty tanks.

HOWEVER; there are SOOOOO many cool reptiles out there that I've never seen before I joined this website. And there are many that, despite being amazing looking animals, I've found are just not suited for what I want in a pet or just have really specialized care requirements.

So, as long as people are willing to do the research before buying: I think asking for recommendations on people's favorites and experience is a good way to start and a great way to discover animals that wouldn't normally pop into one's mind.

Off of my soapbox now: Being a snake-person, I can't help you at all in the lizard dept., but good luck with your research!

I personally am always eager to get a new reptile, so when a tank frees up, I too look at my options. I see what kinds I'm interested in (which is usually anything) and I see if I can provide for it. If I can, I usually wind up getting it. THEN I fall in love with it. I've never sold or traded a pet and don't plan to.
