I've read of people using herbs to quit smoking. Lobelia for a substance similar to nicotine to knock of the edge, and any antioxidant rich herbs, they'll help to clear the nicotine out of you faster. Do a google search if your interested, Lobelia is known to upset the stomach, somewhat severly in some people. Green tea is known for its high level of antioxidants but only when 3+ cups are drank a day, maybe instead of a cig a cup of tea
And some people swear by the natural "smoke away" product. Im no smoker so haven't had to go through quitting but have witnessed some people and it can be pretty tuff. If your having really bad troubles check out a support program, its well worth doing anything you can to quit.

When my mother quit (after smoking for 35+ years) one of the things she used was a Herbal Detox. It's a homeopathic remedy that you squirt under your tongue... go to you local health food store and ask about it.

I quit cold turkey in 1999. Just keep yourself busy. Just think of how good you feel, money you will save and how nice you and your clothes will smell, lol.

As you know it isn't going to be easy specially if you hang with people who are still smoking. I don't smoke but my Lady was a smoker for 25 years when we got together. What she did was to stay away from them as long as possible and then when it got really bad she would let herself have that couple of drags. She says the fact that it wasn't completely forbidden is what helped her. That was 5 years ago. She will still occassionally take a hit of a friends cig. After the hacking and coughing stop then she looks at me and says that reminds her of why she quit! But like Steve says things smell and taste better but you can definately tell when someone has been smoking. She has apologized repeatedly to me for making me have to smell THAT on her!
There is a billboard that reads "kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray." She says that she understands that one now.

Good on you Skull, I really hope you manage it, I have been considering stopping smoking for a while now, but I think I might need the nicorette gum or patches to help me along, I did cold turkey once and managed 6 months, but I just put on too much weight and started up again, it was easier than dieting, now I smoke more and more, what I did when I gave up was keep a packet of 10 in the drawer, and knowing there was a cig there if I really wanted one helped....and I didnt touch them for 6 months

You can do it, just put the money you would have spent on cigs in a jar and buy yourself a new herp instead.
