Buggy out eyes

This is what our member has to say: Hey guys, i notice that the iguanas like to bug their eyes out, so they are puffy looking. is it because they are itchy? or, ...

Buggy out eyes

Hey guys, i notice that the iguanas like to bug their eyes out, so they are puffy looking. is it because they are itchy? or, why is it they do that? its so gross looking. i dont know if the other lizards do it, b/c im always around cloud, who does it. my basilisk hasnt done it yet, that i've noticed either

I've owned iguanas for 3 years and I've never seen them bug their eyes out.
I think you might want to have them checked out because it could be an infection.

he does it only for a few seconds and stops. they close their eyes and then they just sorta get puffy. we have had him looked over by vets plenty of times, he and my little marko *RIP*. both of them did it, it always looked to me like an itchy eye thing....
i will keep a watch and take a pic next time and post it. thnx iggyman

Oh no....its not an infection...

They will just relax their sockets and their eyes bulge out....it couldbe to loosen shed or to just stretch out the muscle there...but its normal...mine do it too......Lyn

I've always heard of igs doing that but I have never seen it with Zok.

It's a pleasure thing too... I can rub Gil's "eyebrow" and he'll bug them out. Here's a pic of him with his "girlfriend"... note the eye bulge.
