Battening the Hatches! Blizzard on the Way!
Ok folks as you may have heard those of us inthe Northeast are expecting a blizzard and I've been running around all morning making sure the animals and I are ready. Fortunately my heat is gas so if the power goes out I should be all set but I've got a ton of flashlights, my weight in batteries, 10 gallons of water in buckets and bottled water for me and the animals to drink. In the event that it does get cold in here I've got sacks for all the animals and they will be getting very cozy with me in the North Face thirty degree sleeping bag, yes even the giant boa constrictor . My freind down the street offered me a propane cylinder and I've got a single burner so I ought to be able to heat water. I've got enough canned tuna and soup to last me for awhile and the Leopard Geckos have plenty of bugs. I'm supposed to feed the snakes tonight but I'm thinking that might not be the greatest idea if I have to bag and snuggle them to keep them warm. Input on that? Did I forget anything? Are YOU ready? Suggestions?
May you and your animals STAY WARM!

I'm stocked up on hot water bottles, hand warmers and wood for the stove. lol
But here in Jersey there isn't a loaf of bread, gallon of milk or dozen eggs anywhere to be found. Did you know that when it snows in New Jersey everyone lives on French toast. lol

Yoe seem all set Heather,,,as you stated it might be best to wait on the snake feed. It would be a little uncomfortable to have a re-gurgitation in the bag with ya,,,LOL

Best of luck to everyone, if I could take some of your snow I would. My prayers are with you, stay safe and warm.

Awe come on ....it's just a little snow!
Come on folks ..... it's not like we have never seen this before. This is what I consider a good storm! Really cold temps mean very lite fluffy snow .... so power outages should be far and few between. So just sit back and enjoy it! Gives us all a chance to just sit back and enjoy our hobbys for a change!

If you are truly expecting to lose power I would stop feeding everything! It won't hurt them to go a day or two without food and if the temps drop too much it will be safer.
Everyone stay warm!

1.) This is New England the weather is never predicatable 2.) I'm on the ocean so I'm sure my snow will be a bit wetter than the mountain snow 3.) I don't mind snow if I can stay indoors and don't hafta shovel it off my car I'd just never be able to live with myself if it did get cold in here and I was unprepared to keep "the Crew" warm.
