HUGE reptile hides

This is what our member has to say: Does anybody know where I can find a HUGE reptile hide. Something suitable for an adult Savannah monitor. Hannibal has almost outgrown his second enclosure ...

HUGE reptile hides

Does anybody know where I can find a HUGE reptile hide. Something suitable for an adult Savannah monitor. Hannibal has almost outgrown his second enclosure and is about to switch over to his final one (hopefully). I wanted to get him a hide he can fit comfortable in that still looks natural.

LOL! When I first read this the first thing that came to mind was you were looking for some sort of a reptile skin!

There really isn't much on the market in the way of hides big enough for your monitor. You are probably stuck with making something yourself. You might try getting a couple of the largest half logs and fastening them together. You could also get a large sterilite or a large section of PVC pipe and glue bark chunks or thin branches to it.

You can make your own hide! They sell cork bark curls, tubes, and peices that you could stack and balance to make into a large hide. You can also get slate for pretty cheap, make two stacks and then lay something over the top. You can also find some sweet driftwood on ebay that you could turn into a hide.
Good luck.

That be my answer--driftwood.If you can get to a beach in the spring.I've found some awesome hollow stumps drifted ashore.Cut off what you they work great.Don't forget to treat them for bugs though.

Could you afix some split bamboo mat or sun shade to a length of large diameter PVC pipe, or even a trash can. Would not be great looking when focused closely on it but should be easy and with a quick glance it may look like smooth bark.

I wonder if there are large plastic "rocks" or other garden ornaments available for landscaping that would work. There may even be large flower pots that could be altered.

Now I am just rambling with no aim to what I am saying

Cassini Pets & Produce in New South Wales, Australia sell BIG ones, 3 sizes. I saw them on-line once. They look great and exactly like what I think you want.
