No reptile in my future

Hello all!
Sorry I haven't written in awhile. Had a great time in Switzerland - now back to the real world of Urologic surgery! Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support in my desire to get a new reptile pet. Unfortunately, it will not be in my future for some time.
For Christmas, my fiance gave me a saphire and diamond ring that I have been drooling over since the Spring. It was QUITE expensive and beautiful! He also paid for my surgical loupes that I needed for work. AND he is financing my upcoming Lasix surgery ($5 grand).
He is VERY anti-reptile at the moment and all of Blackjack's misfortunes with the mites, the injury to Talyn, and her subsequent surgery have convinced Bill that snakes are FAR from low maintenance! (Even though that is not necessarily true!)
SO, for now, I will just have to enjoy all of your beautiful animals vicariously from the forum. Thanks for having me as a member anyway!
Baxter
Here are pics of my ring(s) in case your wondering if they were worth giving up herps for! (For a while at least I think they are!)

Bummer

WAAAAAAAAAaaHHHHH !! I'm sorry that my snake's troubles have only added to Bill's resistance to your getting a snake.
They're fabulous animals, as you know; but I can see why you don't want to push the matter further right now. You'll just have to come back to Switzerland to play with my babies!!!

Awww such a shame,. next time you visit Andrea, take an extra flight and visit us on the way back, we have plenty of herps that you can play with!

Beautiful rings though, and your hubby's not all bad.. what a wonderful guy to finance you, that's very supportive of him. Don't worry, one day he'll come round. Andrea's had very bad luck with Monty and Talyn, and that's the case with everyone who owns animals - we own 28 snakes, 13 lizards, 4 frogs, 7 tarantulas, 3 GALS, 6 rats and a chinchilla, oh and not forgetting Joe's precious satanic centipede and we have only ever needed to visit the vet 3 times - once for an infestation of mites so that we could get a prescription for treatment, once for our Bearded Dragon Rocky after we re-homed her to get a full check-up, resulting, luckily, in an all-clear, and a third time with a Bearded Dragon that we hatched who had some genetic problems. Reptiles, of all animals kept as pets, are one of the most hardy groups of animals, and rarely need vet visits, in comparison to something like a dog or a cat. Just keep pointing out the good points and I'm sure you'll be a proud mum of herp babies soon enough!

Bill is a really good man: VERY generous and VERY VERY sweet... but nobody's perfect -- he's missing that herp-aholic gene!
Pretty rings but I'll still take my snakes over jewelry any day!!!

Ah, never fear,. that gene can be gradually introduced over a period of persuasion and nagging

Just keep taking him to pet stores and get him holding a snake, that's all it takes for the addiction to start. lol

And if that doesn't work sign him up here and we'll torment him until he gives in.

Baxter I agree. Andrea's adventures are not necessarily the norm. She just had a run of misfortune. You can't judge future snake keepng based solely on what she has gone thru.
That would be like saying you can't have children because the neighbor's son fell out of a tree and broke his arm.
You might try making a point of getting him in situations where he could handle reptiles and maybe something will click in him and find one that he wants.
And I think the rings are gorgeous!
