central florida... where I live... Hopefully pet suppliers who sell them smaller than the appropriate length will be punished in some way

The problem is that they are not "selling" the turtles. They are selling a critter keeper and accessories with a "FREE" turtle.

We just had a similar instance up here with a dollar store selling a small vase and turtle for $10.00, I walked in and said "How much for just the turtle?" and when he said $5.00 it was all over for him.

You see them everywhere around here riding that tired old "for educational purposes only" bit. I have yet to see anyone ask for teaching credentials.

And those stupid plastic bowls with the island and the plastic palm trees are back too!

I used to have a bunch of those little guys back when I was a kid and I always wondered why you couldn't buy them and now I understand but that's just crazy.
