Anticipation

I'm sure you've all had it.

Here's my situation:

I've been reading up on water dragons for quite some time, been looking at pictures and videos of peoples vivariums and stuff. It's really killing me being broke right now, I can't wait to start building my vivarium and getting two of my own.

But I'm sure you've all had the same feeling with your pets before you got them, and how good did it feel to finally have it all come together for you? I'm quite certain this is more than a hobby for most of you.

Re: Anticipation

It's good that you have time to do your research first.

Re: Anticipation

Yes I agree. Doing your research first is great. Trying to be prepared can come in really handy, like for example, getting 2 water dragons. Be prepared for dominance issues and making 2 separate enclosures. Getting the temps. just right ect.
But finally getting is the best, I agree

Re: Anticipation

I'm in the middle of making a new Red Eye Tree Frog enclosure. Once I get that, I can pick up 2 more to add to my collection. I can't wait!

Re: Anticipation

Yeah - and when Liz is done making her new Red Eye Tree Frog enclosure -- my froggies get a new enclosure and then my Gecko gets the froggies 'old' enclosure --- which leaves me with an EMPTY 10 gal tank!

Of course, everything will need to move instages to make sure the tanks are properly set up before I move the critters -- but I just know everyone will be so HAPPY to have larger homes!!!

It's win-win for all of us -- except maybe my husband who is VERY afraid of me with an empty tank!!!

Re: Anticipation

And then, once your cage is done, and you go to pick out your new animals, you can't figure out exactly which ones you want, because you want them all, or at least you want more of them than you could reasonably have.

Re: Anticipation

I was at petco yesterday and saw two water dragons there! I've never seen them before at this petco, but I did notice they had two juveniles in a fairly small tank. Do you think I could fit a juvenile in a 20L for a while?

Re: Anticipation

Since WDs need height, the answer on that would be no. And even if you had a 20 tall, that would last you like, a month.

I'm weary of petco animals anyway.

Re: Anticipation

petco *insert cringe here* I have yet to see a single healthy herp in their displays... Last time I was in there, it was appalling. Buying from petco is like overpaying someone to rescue their neglected animal from them. Bad.
