Or, more precisely,...who's paying for it?

thats what I was thinking. you both could wear a snake over your shoulders.
or, if you have a small corn snake, instead of doing the ring thing, you could wrap the snake around her finger

My parents!!! Haha!
They're not sure why we're including them.
They don't get it at all.
It makes perfect sense to us.

Re: Wedding Ideas (with Snakes!)
I hate to say it, even if they are paying for it, you are the ones who are getting married, not them. I had to put my foot down with mine, and his family on certain things. I had to remind them it was MY day, not theirs. It didn't matter if they didn't get it, I did, and that was the important thing.

Re: Wedding Ideas (with Snakes!)
I hope to somehow have animals involved in my wedding someday (I suspect he will ask soon - he keeps asking me about jewelry preferences)
My grandma is still convinced that my ball python is a man-eating monster (and she hasn't met the boas yet)
Yeah, in the end, you have to draw the lines clearly if you won't want them to ruin it for you.
Best Wishes.

Re: Wedding Ideas (with Snakes!)
I can see my oldest daughter wanting her snakes involved in any type of "ceremony", which for her will probably be a combination of handfasting (she's pagan) and whatever her intended would want. She will have to be careful about how she decides to involve them, as many of our family (we're talking aunts & uncles and cousins, not siblings) are extremely afraid of snakes (South Dakota farm born, rattlesnake influenced fear). I like the idea of using the snakes as the ties in a handfasting. She also wants old Roman theme, I can see it all working well.

Re: Wedding Ideas (with Snakes!)
She could do something with roman mythology - there are certainly snakes in it from which to draw a theme.
