I've Made the Jump
Many of you know that I've been doing a lot of research on poison dart frogs, but I've decided that for now they're too much responsibility. So I did a bit of research on a herp that's been nagging at the back of my mind for a while...
So yesterday at the Sacramento Reptile Show, I found a beautiful male juvenile California kingsnake! He's getting settled in his new home, and even ate a pinky this morning! Once he settles in (and digests his food), I'll snap some pictures.
We're not a one-herp family anymore!

Re: I've Made the Jump...
I don't blame you, I can't deal with the darts either!
Congrats on your king!

Re: I've Made the Jump...
What's so difficult about them? I'm planning on getting some, and they seem fairly simple.

Re: I've Made the Jump...
I can't handle the fruit fly culturing. I love making vives and dart frog vivs are pretty self sustaining once made. The biggest issue with enclosures is keeping the humidity up (they need 90% or greater) and the heat up. Something I'm not willing to do when our winters get cold and I don't want to pay to heat the house at 72.

I didn't say "difficult," I said "too much responsibility." They just require more attention than I'm able to give at the moment.
