Happy Memorial Day to all!
Just a shout out to remind you that, while you are out at the lake, or barbecueing your burgers and dogs,
take a moment to reflect on what this day is really about.

Keep in mind the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, all of our military who are away from their families today.
And don't forget those who have paid the ultimate price to make sure that we can enjoy all the freedoms and things that we do.
I salute you all!

Well said Merlin, most people take for granted what this day means and think of it as just a 3 day weekend. If by chance you see a member of our Armed Service today, thank them. Sometimes that's all they want to hear to ensure what they do is worth the price they pay, and they pay it daily.

Could not agree more! When my nephew graduated from boot camp we took him to dinner and someone in the restaurant picked up his part of the check as a thank you for serving. Wow! What a statement to us all.

I remember my grandfathers in WWII, my father-in-law in the Korean War, older friends in Nam (I was only 5 in 1970), and my own sister and her husband (both helicopter mechanics for the 101st) in the beginning of the gulf wars. Those are personal remembrances.

The untold and uncounted soldiers past and present are, and will always be, heroes to a way of life many of us tend to take for granted.

Those who are active and inactive - may your day be filled with pride.

Well said everyone. I completely agree with all the eloquent words. Happy Memorial Day. Our parade almost got cancelled due to "lack of interest!" everyone emailed and had an uproar and we had a wonderful parade!
It would have been a shame if it was cancelled!

Wow Rich! That is absolutely beautiful! I never forget what the day is all about, especially since I live in a military town. I see many sad things here lately.

But, I can tell you I am eternally grateful for the things all the soldiers now, and in the past have done to ensure our freedom!
