That's weird allright!

It sucks that because of one person they ban the snakes for the whole area. Makes you wonder if the loose snakes were really his or not...

They were probably snakes native to that area, but since the neighbors heard that he had snakes, it was just as easy to blame him for all the "snake sightings". Also makes it a lot easier to get the ban on the snakes.

The one neighbor comments that he does not like the fact, that he has animals that could kill his kids. However, it did not tell you if he had large dogs or anything like that.

There have been more children killed in the U.S. by dogs, than by snakes

That's what disturbed me the most.
And another thing, I can understand even if someone wants to keep venomous snakes. But a neighborhood is not the place to do it. I thought keeping venomous snakes was illegal anyway.
I'll tell you what, If I learned my next door neighbor had a garage full of pit vipers, I don't care if he is the Albert Einstein of herpetology! He's got to go!

Some states it's illegal, some states you need a permit, and some states it's completely legal. Depends where you live, also in some states that allow them, some counties have banned them.

I personaly think, if kept correctly, there's no more risk having a venomous snake next door then there is having a large dog next door.
But that means being responsible, escape proof enclosures, hot boxes for feeding and cleaning tanks, padlocks, the works.

Yeah, there seems to be something fishy about the whole incident in general. That there happens to be all these snake sightings around his house, and the dead snakes?

Right now I'm between annoyance at his neighbours for being so unreasonable toward his snakes and Nguygen's suspicious behavior (that sounds like it could be animal cruelty).

What I don't really get is that if there are indigenous snakes of the area that are venomous or a health-risk, then what's the difference if someone's keeping venomous snakes in captivity next door? It's like pointing the finger at the guy standing right beside you, never minding the waves of people around you on the sidewalk.

Anyways, it's all really weird. Shame that gossip magazines will get the very last detail of a celebrity scandal, but local news only ever bothers with a vague, surface story.

OK, You would have to trust your neighbor COMPLETELY! Do you trust your neighnor so completely that you believe that they are accident proof. Or they won't get drunk and pass out. Or something entirely different.

And what's this prejudice against big dogs? I can't imagine why someone would compare any dog to a pit viper!
If you could compare a dog to a viper, It would be one of those little yappy dogs!
No dog has venom. This is character assasination on mans best friend!

I love dogs, i was using it as an example, not making comparisons.

If I found out one of my neighbors was keeping venomous snakes, i'd probaly want to go over and check them out.
