Herp Magazines

Hey guys! I want to start getting some herp magazines. I picked up a copy of this months reptile magazine and I liked it. I was just wondering what other magazines are out there and which ones you guys find are the best.

Re: Herp Magazines

Reptiles is basically the only reptile magazine. There was another one from the UK but I think it is out of print now, I haven't seen a new one in awhile. There is a once a year reptile magazine too. I can't remember the name right now though.

Re: Herp Magazines

Beware of the hobby magazine! lol Many of the mags out there are fronts for merchandisers selling products in their field.

If you want a serious reptile magazine, join the IRCF. Your membership includes a subscription to Iguana Journal. Which contains scholarly articles on conservation, research, and historical perspectives. It doesn't focus only on iguanas, and it's a wonderful mag.

Re: Herp Magazines

Reptilica is a good herp and invert mag. Like most it's about 25% ads but has up to date care and very good articles on alot of animals. Highlighting one subject every other month. Last issue was three articles on the species and captive care of Mambas. It's published in France but is available in English and German.

Re: Herp Magazines

Iguana is amazing Steph. It is virtually a scientific journal though, so not everyones cup of tea. Iguana is a high class magazine and only the top get published in there. The photos are also out of this world and to get a cover shot is any herp photographers dream. Reptiles is a good all arounde mag. Although, it does not get indepth into any subject. It is geared only for reptile keepers though I guess.

Yes, it is a journal. The articles are more technical and there are very, very few ads. Devon, do you subscribe?
