HELP!
Okay, I have something that's been bothering me and today I must come forward. My stepdad owns two snakes, a ball python and burmese python, and I don't think he cares for them properly. The ONLY time he pays them attention is when someone comes over and he shows off how scary they are. Then he puts them back in their tank. The tank has NO lighting, it has one warm spot in the shared 50 (or so) gallon tank that only one snake can get. One of the snakes has not eatin in quite some time. I don't know if he knows what he's doing, but I've tried to show him care sheets for the snakes and he doesn't care to look or hear about it. He's a complete cheapo and won't buy them anything but 4 pinkies / week.
I don't know what to do....... HELP!

Re: HELP!
I think it depends how much you like your stepdad?
If your on good terms with him, try your best to show him that he can affordably care for them properly, wooden enclosures for each, affordable heating, also tell him theres a good chance that one day he'll be missing a ball python, as Burms get Huge, while Ball Pythons stay around 5'-6'. If you don't like him, or that does'nt work, Report him, take pictures, send them in, tell the rescue everything they would need to know to use against him.
Though, if you don't mind caring for them you could threaten him into giving them to you...

Re: HELP!
Why not talk to your Mom about it?

Re: HELP!
Ask him if you can help him build a home for the Burm, tell him you saw a really cool one on the net and you want to see if you can build it. Make it seem like something you want to do instead of something you think HE should do, maybe that'll trick him into it and the snakes will benefit.

Re: HELP!
He WILL NOT HEAR IT. HE IS A CHEAPO. As for our relationship, I think he's a piece of **** to be honest, but that's another story. My mom is aware, but says she can't control him. I feel like I either have to let it happen or call a rescue place and then be at risk of a argument/kicked out by him.
This really stinks.
As for building an enclosure, he gets FREE wood for it from his work and won't even help me with my own water dragon enclosure, much less will he build one for his reptiles which "are just fine" in his opinion.

I don't care for them for the following reasons.
1. I just found out they weren't being cared for properly when I bought a reptile myself.
2. I'm disabled and can't afford 2 snakes, especially a burmese.
3. He wouldn't like it if I did.
4. I'm scared of snakes horribly.
5. I don't know what all care they need, anyway, and I've got enough on my hands learning about Chinese Water Dragons. My dragon needs an enclosure, and I'm trying to worry about that, at least I'm working on it and he has all he needs.
And guys, I can't much answer question's on their age and so forth as they are not mine. My mom and me moved in her 2 months ago and I'm in my first week with my first reptile.

Re: HELP!
Sounds to me like the only option you have is to call the SPCA. Take pictures of them and their enclosure, and list what they are fed and what conditions they are living in. If you can't take care of them yourself, that is the only thing you can do, and it would be best for these guys.
I'm sorry you are having to deal with that. I know it's hard when it comes to family, step or not.

Re: HELP!
could you at least toss them a bit of extra food once in a while? You could get a rat, for not that expensive.

Re: HELP!
Well, you don't really like the guy, Just how Big is
the Burm?...
Maybe, uhh, you could arrange a "feeding accident"
just kidding, that would be wrong, the snake might be put down.
