Please don't get me started on leopard geckos on sand. I work at a petco, and no matter how much I bug them, im forced to keep the leopard geckos on sand, even the baby leopard geckos, Petco forces you to follow there "plan a grams" It tells you what substrate to use, what hide, what water dish, what plant, and so on, its ridiculous. At least I was able to seperate the house geckoes and green anoles into separate enclosures, a small victory, but I also had to put quite a few reptiles on repti-bark that I think should be on the coconut bedding.
Sorry for the rant, but im already tired of the corporate bull there.

I guess the folks at my PetCo are rebels, lol! Or maybe they got tired of me complaining to the manager once a week, bringing them articles, etc.

Ryan, I would be very frustrated in your position. But anything you can do to educate folks and improve things for the animals is very valuable. Even small changes make a big difference.

You might as well pick out a spot on the wall to start banging your head against. I know corporations all too well. If you're at the bottom, You're little people. You might as well get used to either being treated like you know nothing or you get the patronizing discussion where you might think they're listening to you, But in reality they are only pacifying you by letting you vent.
The decisions on what substrates to use are made at company headquarters. And they're made to maximize the profits of the company. As long as an "Acceptable" amount of animals live, Nothing will change.

One way you might want to approach it is to tell the DM that the customers are complaining. You're not lying, by the way... we've ALL been into Petco, and we're ALL complaining!

Hey if you happen to be passing through, both i, and the litle baby leopard geckos would appreciate it, granted im still not sure that would get to the people who could ok the change, but maybe it would be changed just to pacify the "unruly customers" lol.

I don't really trust what any petstore whether or not they have achieved nationwide corportate status. I told a mom and pop store their leopard geckos needed a humid hide to shed in. They replied that the leopard geckos had a water dish to soak in if they needed to shed. Plus they were on sand. I hate going to shows because breeders are selling snakes by one name when its clearly a different species. Because of my untrusting nature I have a 2" binder full of care sheets on animals I have, used to have, or want. I never trust just one.
