I call bs to that whole thing, and another that sya they will move to san fransico, or across the country. TO many hazards and other thigns. People are just looking for more and more reason for the ban to go through.

Year 2100 come on by then wont there be more important things to worry about than this? I mean really.

Ill dismiss it cause its Bull.

Yeah burms and tics are hardy. Thats why retics hardly get sick and you have to be a complete moron to get a retic sick. But I still highly doubt that theyll move that far north in the southern states.

They also have southern Indiana and Tenn. and Kentucky as a maybe. LMAO ya right. As Merlin said, there are alot of places where they wouldnt be able to survive.

Re: What Do You Think About This?

That far north. Yeah right. I could be mistaken but Burms don't actually truly hibernate. They just remain inactive during the cooler months. Where they originate from the winters don't get cold enough for hibernation. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
I'm waiting to see that big rush of water when the -70deg icecaps warm up a few degrees and somehow magically melt at -67 deg.lol

Re: What Do You Think About This?

This whole subject is s touchy but serious problem. It sad because no matter how much we educate people, out of their own stupidity and desperation, people will not stop releasing non native animals. There is a good possibility that the US will some day plagued with pythons. Its seen everyday in other countries with plants and other animals that have adapted, and its wiping out native species. The major problem with it is that we were all designed with the intent to adapt and evolve whether we be human, snake, turtle, plant or bug. If this doesn't stop eventually, all these animals we love are going to be banned and or eradicated due to allot of people having extreme fears twords exotic pets. Allot of people are going to think, wow I'm going to be sitting on the can one day, and a giant Burmese python is going to crawl up the sewer and bite my behind. (i have a friend in Florida thats already scared out of her pants about this subject) Its sad, and I think that their needs to be more in place to prevent this. I'm not saying ban these animals, I am saying they need to be harder to get, I believe there needs to be some testing and permits put in place everywhere. If you cant pass the test, you don't get a snake. If you wont get the permit, your snake will be seized and put to sleep. I know I have a pretty harsh opinion of what should be done, But I don't want to see them in rescues any more, I don't want to see them dumped off somewhere, and I definitely don't want to see them banned... And thats exactly whats going to happen if things don't change (sorry if I come off hard headed and crabby)

Re: What Do You Think About This?

I think a lot of people are purists and only think of an animal surviving "In The Wild". Would a burm be able to survive the winter in north Georgia if its only shelter was under a rock or under a log? probably not. But there are plenty of man made structures that they could hide out in over the winter. How many homes are there that have crawl spaces under them? How many wharehouses and old buildings are there that they could get into?
I have a building on my property that I use for storage. I have so much junk in there that a huge python could easily hide and not be seen.
I have a crawl space under my house. I haven't looked under there for a couple of years. Many snakes could have come and gone and I would never have known.

Denial is not a river in egypt.
