Site Tutorials - Suggestions

I have been using the software we currently use for roughly 8 years now, so I am not really in touch with what it is that users may or may not know about the sites interface.

I do realize that we offer a large array of information, in different locations, and the site is feature rich. With that in mind, I have gone ahead and started to create a Site Tutorial section on HC.

Currently there are only 2 sections that have been added and one of them is just an introduction. lol

What I would like from everyone who reads this are some ideas as to what on HC could use an in-depth explanation.

If you view the tutorials section I have created, you will find that I am going into extreme detail to explain the functions of the site.

If there are any sections of HC that users have wanted to know more about, or that users feel needs addressing in a detailed format, please post to this thread.

This is going to be a process and I am already drawing up blanks on what I should add to this section.

Thanks everyone!

Using the Gallery for image hosting is going to be added. There will also be one for adding images directly through the "Manage Attachments" feature in the post itself. I was even considering doing a walk through for how to use Photobucket. lol

I think this is a wonderful idea! Being a technological dinosaur myself I can relate to how new users might feel confronted with all the things that we offer.
One problem I noticed when I went through the tutorial is that the example images, when clicked, actually display smaller than the "thumbnail" that is embedded in the post itself. It is totally illegible.

Re: Site Tutorials - Suggestions

What browser are you using Merlin? I ask, because the code resizing those images is the same code used in every thread on HC.

I have just gone through and tested those images using:

I.E 7.0.6 - Works
Firefox 2.0.0.12 - Works
Opera 9.20 Build 8771 - Works
Flock 0.7.10.2 - Works
Slimbrowser 4.08 Build 105 - Works
Netscape 8.1.2 - Works

Is anyone else experiencing the same resize issue? If you are, please let me know what browser you are using.

safari and firefox for mac both work fine. I think they are too small to read the text in them, but they can be enlarged by clicking on them.

When those images are clicked, they should load the full size version in a new window. The full size version is roughly 600 pixels + large. They are full size images.

The thumbnails are supposed to be small as that is how the code works. It reduces the width of the image to 250 pixels. In most cases, that will make the thumbnail illegible, but completely legible once clicked.

Re: Site Tutorials - Suggestions

I went in and looked at it in Internet explorer(microsoft) and (after allowing popups) it showed fine so apparently its a Yahoo Browser issue.
