Water Dragon not eating
Sorry if this is a bit long but I am starting to get worried about my new Chinese Water Dragon.
Sasha is 4 months old and moved from her 20 gallon aquarium at the pet store to a roughly 140 gallon wood/glass vivarium about 10 days ago. Now I knew she would be stressed for a while and she didn't eat for the first 3 days after I brought her home. I did manage to get her to eat on day four (one med cricket, one earth worm, and one meal worm) but she has ignored everything I have offered her in the last week. She spends most of her time hiding in the cooler side of the viv or in her water and never climbs up to bask or get close enough to her uv light. She was healthy and eating great when she left the pet store but now I can see she is losing a bit of weight. Do you think the move into such a (relatively) large enclosure is too much? I thought about putting her back into something smaller to make sure she gets close enough to the UV and such but I don't want to stress her out even more. I am starting to get more stressed out than she is, how long can she go without eating before I really need to start worrying? Should I move her into a smaller container to feed her? If anyone has any advice, please share. -Keith |
