I know by Spring I'll have a Bearded Dragon or a Blue Tongue Skink....

Herpaholics Preamble

Herpaholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from herpaholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop increasing your reptile collection frivolously. There are no dues or fees for HA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, rescues and trades. HA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, breeder or supply house; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorse nor opposes any causes, except those that pertain to animal cruelty. Our primary purpose is to stay in control of our addiction and help other herpaholics to achieve equilibrium.

The 12 Steps for Herpaholics

1. We admitted we were powerless over reptile acquisitions- that our collection had become incredibly large and time-consuming. Our lives revolved around our reptiles and real-life activities and friendships have dwindled.
2. Came to believe that the collective power of forum memberships could restore us to sanity and allow us to attend Reptile shows without actually acquiring anything new.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of our forums and our memberships. Learning about our shared experiences.
4. Made a searching and fearless inventory of our creatures and ourselves.
5. Admitted to Mods, to feeders, to ourselves, and to our fellow forum members the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have Mods remove and/or correct all these defects of character cincerning forum code of conduct.
7. Humbly asked them to correct our shortcomings and posts.
8. Made a list of all creatures we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to feeder creatures wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take critter inventory, and when we realized it was lacking resisted the temptation to acquire a new reptile.
11. Sought through meditation and satisfying reading of Reptiles magazine and forum threads to improve our conscious contact with fellow herpers, asking for knowledge and sharing our own experiences in an effort to help others like ourselves.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we try to carry this message to herpalcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Please print out this post and tape it to the front of your favorite reptile's cage.
