    Post Considering Herpology

So I love animals and always wanted to have a profession where i worked with animals. Well I specifically want to work with reptiles, I love reptiles, they have always amazed me and to this day i strive to know more.. So im considering going back to college and studying to become a herpologist. I was wondering if anyone here has a masters in Herpology and if so, what all kind of schooling is needed? Also, i read that there are more people studying herpology than there is jobs.. So i wanted to know from people who have a masters in herpology, is it a rough area to get into? Does anyone here have all the schooling needed, but ended up just working for petsmart? haha. I just want alot of information, so i have a good idea and be able to decide if this is the right area for me to be in. I really would love to work in Reptile Preservation. But im also keeping an open mind on zoology, and just work at a zoo and in the reptile areas if i could get my way, which isnt likely haha.

    Re: Considering Herpology

I had the same dreams like you have when I was young.
The problem with me was that I was really squimish when I was young.
I couldn't dream of disecting a cat! when I was in high school! I loved(love) Cats!
It took a lot of maturity to realize that, If I love animals, I have to learn to operate on them, If I am going to be a doctor of animals!
