FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CELEBRITY L.A. GATOR FEATURED IN NEW BOOK & SIGNINGS

Palos Verdes-Reggie's back! Los Angeles' celebrity alligator is featured in a new book, REGGIE: My Story, which follows the saga of the pet alligator left at Harbor Regional Park two summers ago. After avoiding capture and remaining in hiding for over 18 months, Reggie was finally snared in late May and taken to his new Los Angeles Zoo home. Six days after he was moved into a newly remodeled and landscaped enclosure, the wily L.A. gator scaled a wire fence but was discovered quickly.

Reggie's adventures in REGGIE:My Story are told from the alligator's point of view by best-selling and award-winning author Angi Ma Wong who also wrote Reggie the L.A. Gator. Pacific Heritage Books' newest release features pictures taken by local photographers, including Desiree Wong, an active member of the International Reptile Conservation Foundation, Tom Underhill of the Palos Verdes Peninsula News, Sean Hiller of the Daily Breeze and Efrain Iniguez.

Four local book signings will launch the book's debut: Friday, November 9, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center gift shop, 25825 South Vermont Avenue, Harbor City; Saturday, November 10, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at The Grand Emporium, 323 West 7th. Street, San Pedro; Wednesday, November 28, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Torrance Memorial Medical Center gift shop, 3330 Lomita Blvd., Torrance; Saturday, December 8, 2007, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room, 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates.

"It's a great story with lots of good information, wonderful illustrations, and never-before seen photographs!" enthuses Marisa Perley, the Young Readers Librarian for the Palos Verdes Library District. All of Wong's children's books will be available for purchase and personalization with part of the proceeds from the sales at the book talk and signing designated to support the library's educational programs.

Admission and parking are free at all events. For information call (310) 541-8818.

Very cool, Des! I'll be in Shell Beach on the 28th, but that's still 3 hours away!

Reggie Alligator Book Release/Signing and IRCF

The booksigning was very fun yesterday. Angi was avidly introducing me as a photographer for the book. Met nice folks and got to talk about how and where I got the photos.

Oh..this is very cool. Angi, knowing how much I support IRCF, is willing to work with me on using her books to help raise funds for IRCF. So, I'll be working on the details of that, as well as for the stuffed alligators. I just have to commit to the inventory from her first I'd make sure she'd sign the book too!

Kewl, eh? If you're interested, let me know, so I know how many books I have to buy from her - I'm doing them in lots of 25. If you plan to email me, email at des[@]ircf.org

On another note, looks like I'm heading to Guatemala next month

des
