Re: Child Kills Burmese Python

Thats incredibly senseless!
And the fact that the father didn't even offer an apology indicates a great deal!
Hopefully someone knows who this is or got a tag number or something. Not only would I file charges on the parent I would sue him for damages.

Re: Child Kills Burmese Python

Unfortunately, that is not just a fear of snakes, or just a kid who does not like snakes. That kid has serious issues that obviously have been given no attention. Coming from the rescuers point of view, he would have been lucky to leave with his head intact!

However coming from the others side that kid needs professional help, it is time the proper authorities are called, not just the police, Childrens Protective Services needs toi step in and evaluate that child for O.D.D., amongst many other things. I can say that,,that is a SERIOUS sign af a HUGE problem that only usually gets worse! They will usually start on the the animals and then it just moves on up to people. That is one angry little boy!

this is the saddest thing. It is unbelieveable that someone could do such a thing. I hope they catch that psyco and give it too him, maybe stomp on his head!

Re: Child Kills Burmese Python

I can't believe the father just grabbed the kid and left. That is beyond insane. I agree though, there is more to it than just a fear of snakes. Did anyone know that most serial killers started out abusing and killing animals? This includes some of the most notorious killers known! That child should be evaluated!

Re: Child Kills Burmese Python

I read about that. The whole thing from the father's attitude to the child's behavior is disgusting.

At least give the snake the same value as you'd give a person's favorite knic-knac. If that kid had stepped on a model airplane the guy had carefully put together, the parents would have been expected to make the child apologize, offer some monetary compensation, and been very apologetic.

In this case, even the news article I read makes light of it. It was titled "Boy really hates snakes" and seemed to be jokingly standing on the side of the kid. Sick.

Re: Child Kills Burmese Python

I'm not trying to justify anything here But, I have two Tarantulas. I'm wondering how many of you would stomp them if you saw them?
I have a 110 lbs. Pit Bull (Lucy). How many of you would freak out if you saw her?
A fear of snakes and spiders and alot of other things are ingrained in our DNA. It's only through education that we learn what snakes are harmfull and which are not. The vast majority of people fear all snakes.
I know Us reptile lovers are the vast majority on this or any other reptile site, But, Whether we like it or not, The majority of humans don't like any animal that is not warm and fuzzy!
Me personally, If I wanted to educate people about reptiles, I wouldn't place my animal in front of a crowd unprotected where someone might freak out.

Having said this, It's still a tradgedy that this happened!
The Parents should pay for the animal. The kid should do restitution.
