Alaska Pics!! (A LOT!!)
well I finally got all the stuff uploaded and I ended up with at least 700 pics that turned out good so far. i obviously am not posting 700 pics lol. sorry if its an overload of pics but there's some from every area we visited. here's Vancouver, pics at sea and some from inside our ship

Ketchikan (the brownish bird with the mottled plummage is a juvi bald eagle. they don't get their white head and tail until about 3-5 years)
      i hope they've been loading right so they're not huge on the post. some seem to be coming up a little big...

Mendenhall Glacier and the whale watch. the whales bubblefeeding is the first and second pics of the whales.

White Pass Scenic Railroad/Skagway (the bridge in the second pic was an original built back when the gold rush was still big. its closed off so we were not on it! so not stable. lol) the long black thing in the 4th pic is a plate of whale baleen humpbacks have baleen in their mouths instead of teeth. it acts as a filter for small food. depending on the type of whale they can have up to 350 plates per side.

Glacier Bay and Copper River. the third pic is a view from our lodge window. the fourth is a pic of a fish wheel. they are put along the edges of rivers and as the baskets turn, salmon get caught up in them then dropped into a bin on the shore side. no fish wheels are the same because there is no market for fish wheels, each one is hand made by the family who owns it. a family of four can catch up to 500 salmon for the year with it. last pic is a guy cutting fillets from a salmon he caught right there.

first few pics are from the jet boat tour during the nature hike part. there's a caribou antler, an old prospector's tent and some of the furs the tour guides' grandfather skinned from animals he trapped. pictured furs are a grey wolf on the left, lynx in the middle and a coyote on the right towards the tent opening. then on the way to Denali and the pics from the bus incident. that was sure scary.

Flowers outside of our Denali lodge, pics from Jeff King's Husky Homestead Tour. the first thing we saw while getting off the shuttle was an armload of cute puppies!

Riverboat Tour in Fairbanks. the first ones are the view from the boat, including an example of the houses that alaskans have built in the area. the last few pics are from the native village we went to. in the fifth pic the girl is holding up a wolverine hide. her people call them the chiefs of the forest and believe that if a wolverine and a bear cross paths in the forest, the bear will move aside and let the wolverine pass. the hut is made from caribou hides. the caribou pic are reindeer, reindeer are just domesticated caribou.

a piece of 19ounce gold at the El Dorado gold mine, yes the number you see is really what its worth lol. after that is our trip home after flying out of Minneapolis airport.
    i'm glad I got to share my trip with you all and I hope you enjoyed the pics! i promised i'd come back with some though I really really thinned out what I wanted to post lol.
