I've been thinking of what type of herp to get that my daughter could handle. She's nearly three now and loves anything that moves. She is always helping me feed my monitors and desperately wants to hold them. I'm thinking maybe a Leo or a Red-Eye Tree frog. I really am not sure.

if she likes the monitors she might like to stick with lizards... i'd go with a Leo myself. she's a lucky girl! i tried DESPERATELY to get a leo when I was a kid, but no no no, stupid parents lol.

Oh Oh wait, I have the perfect one, how bout an iguana, I will even ship it to you, lol. Okay for those who dont know me, iguanas are NOT recommended pets for kids.

How about a little tortoise, my son just loves the two that are here and they keep his attention because they are active during the day. He lost interest in the frogs because they do NOTHING, lol. The gecko sounds good to though.

And frogs are a bit too squishy for a small child to handle.

I have thought about a tortoise as well. She would even like a snake. She was playing with an adult Cali King on the weekend. She kept saying "I want it around my neck." I'll probably end up with a Leo because of ease of setup, care and low cost. I'd go with a Bearded Dragon but I don't have space for another 4 ft enclosure. PLus the only Bearded Dragon I ever had was the antichrist. Not looking for another like him anytime soon.

I would go with a turtle ,tortoise, or snake. A leo may get handled a tad too rough and end up dropping its tail.

I was thinking a cornsnake might work for a youngin' too...
