Well I am now the proud owner of another large female iguana, thanks to someone who dumped her on my porch in a box She came with her very own note that says she was sorry to dump her but she knew I would not take her, that she could no longer afford her due to unforseen circumstances. Heres the funny part, the note then goes into a note from the iguana herself, lol. " Hi, my name is Alexandria, I am a good girl and house broken, my owners cannot afford to feed me and I havent been fed in 4 days, so if you can find it in your heart to help me I am hungry. Please just help me and I promise I will be a good girl for you forever, I am 4 years old"

Now isnt that something I of course fed her and she looks like someone did love her, great condition! Hubby is now working on a cage because I had NO empty enclosures......imagine that, lol

Their excuse was they couldn't afford to feed her? I'd understand it more if she was, say, a snake that ate rats or chickens, or even a reptile that eats a load of expensive bugs. But iguanas eat greens that you can get in insane amounts for practically nothing.

I'm sorry they just left her there, though.

Ya know we have a sign on our clinic door that says "all abandoned puppies and kittens will become food for our very large pythons."

People have stopped dumping animals....

If only the boss would really let me get a very large python (one that wouldnt eat puppes and kittens of course)

Maybe a sign that says "there is no room at this inn, all abandoned animals will be destroyed" would help.

You and I both know that that is not the case but it might make people rethink their decision to dump and run.

That sucks, Nicole. This is my biggest fear too, so far so good here. LOL to Lacey but Nicole's rescue will get a horrible name if a sign like that were displayed. (Would be funny to see though)

your time will come, LOL. They will eventually end up dumped on your doorstep, lol. I guess it kinds of goes with the territory. I wish I could put up a sign like that Lacey, I just dont think that will work though as I try to keep a good name....... Iteach in the schools and do some seminars at local pet stores.

I can just be grateful that it was not something that I cannot handle, like a hot, or a burmese, or retic. I am not equipped for anything like that, nor do I have enough personal experience for the hots, I also do not have anyone to help me with the real large snakes, as Derich my snake guy no longer lives in WA and retired to Arizona I am sure that day will come though, I sure do get enough calls for them, lol .
