I've been looking daily for all the tegu info I can accumulate to make sure my new friend has the best care he can. I found a site "www.thetegu.com". I registered and was checking out the forums and noticed they had a chat. Turns out it was an IRC chat that could be accessed via the web page. I signed in all excited to talk to new herpers that keep the same beautiful animals I now have.... and was met by a room full of friggin morons. Every other word was cussing... honestly. I dont usually mind cussing. I'm an adult that occasionally has a foul mouth myself, but you have to throw some other words in there to make a sentence that actually says something. About half the comments were "suck my ^$&# or &#@^ off..." I mean on and on. I tried to persevere and start a conversation about tegus... since it was a tegu chat. I asked if there were any herpers in here and was met with comments I wont even post here. Then I asked if there were any other adults in the room. The only reply I got was that So and so was an old B(#CH. The internet is a sump. Glad there are adults here at HC.

That sort of thing is EXACTLY why we created this forum. Our vision was to get away from the nonsense, flaming, and just general ignorance, so prevalent on a lot of the sites!

Thanks James! Most of us have been around the net for many years and the type of administrations in existanace that run these types of sites believe in the "free speech" theory. While I myself believe in free speech, there is a time and a place for the type of language and attitudes found on websites. When we built this site, it was decided that this was not the time nor the place for it.

Thanks for noticing what makes us unique. If your looking for a place to discuss reptiles in clean and friendly environment, we are here. If you want to vent and let off some steam, they are there. lol
