Hopefully, since there are animals other than reptiles involved, they will get serious with this moron. All too frequently they don't seem to take mistreatment of reptiles as much of an offense.
But when you start throwing in the cute little warm fuzzies its a different matter. THAT gets attention!

Personally I would like to see them lock him in a room and let all of us here take a turn just slapping the tar out of him.

I think you are right though about the fuzzy little cute critters, I think that got their attention, and I think they are just going to use the reptiles as icing to the cake. Either way, as long as he gets punished thats all that matters to me. I think when you are a rescuer you have a certain standard that people expect you to uphold and when you do something like this it gives the rest of us a bad name. i tell you I am tired of explaining to people these are rescue animals I did not do this! Happens a lot when I sit in the waiting room at the vet. I get the , wow how much do you feed them, and I know exactly where they are going with it, I constantly have to explain I am a rescue and they look way better than they did!

Now I WILL agree to THAT!

That is very true, and I have to say, is one of the things that really angers me. Especially groups like PETA and such, who proclaim animal rights and all that, then only get involved when it's about a cute little furry animal.

I remember a couple of years ago, when that episode of Fear Factor aired where they had to tranfer snakes from one tank to another with their teeth (unsanitary!) and ended up killing dozens of them. Not one word mentioned from any animal rights group. I was a member of other herp forums back then, and we spent a lot of time discussing (angrily) the fact that if they had done that with kittens animal activists would have been on their tails so fast they wouldn't have had time to even air the show.

It's surprising how hypocritical people can sometimes be.

I'm glad this guy will be brought to justice no matter the reason, but like Merlin, I wish they'd take abuse of reptiles as seriously as they take abuse of a cat or dog.

Wonderful news I hope they punish him for all of the tings that he has done and is no longer allowed to have any type of animal in his care ever again. Good luck and keep us posted.
