I found this link which states "Animal Cruely in the first degree can lead up to $20,000 and up to 10 years of imprisonment."

Re: ordered to court

Wow I never even seen those! It appears like they have some pretty stiff punishments here, now to see if they actually do it! They have a lot of seperate cases and I really do not know how many charges he is going up against. However when I did all the paperwork to file the report I was asked to sign a paper that would allow them to access all my vet files, all the way down to the very first Achilles I took from him a couple of years back, (not the one I have now) who passed on after 4 months of deperately trying to rehab him. I also gave photo copies of all my records on the animals I took from him, which includes vet paper, and my notes on daily basis of the progress of trying to rehab.

I really hope that they get justice for all of them. To hear that they found an iguana thrown in the corner of his backyard and it wasnt even dead yet just kills me!

I know the bird rescue has lost some, thanks to him, along with the cavy rescue. Some were just too far gone!

So sad!!

Re: ordered to court

The best news is you do have documentation of all these critters. Did you happen to take photos of them after you made your rescues? I'm sure that would help a whole lot too with the prosecution. Oh, and if he does get fined $20,000 I think you should get some of that to help pay for all your vet bills!!!

Re: ordered to court

Thank goodness he's going to have to face up to the consequences of his actions. I feel really bad for all those animals in his care. How horrifying to imagine all those animal corpses just being tossed out of the way - even if one of the iguanas wasn't still alive when he did it.

Even if that doesn't turn out to be true, he's got a stunning track record of abuse of his animals. I do hope he at least gets fined or spends more than just a few cursory days in jail.

Re: ordered to court

Yes I have photos and my vet has the real good ones. I know they have a copy of Pattys necropsy report, which in a nutshell states that she suffered starvation to the point her body was pulling calcium from her bones, which was causing MANY MANY fractures and large breaks, which caused abscesses, which caused infection, not to mention the fact that she was LOADED with mites and some ticks. The starvation was so bad that her teeth were falling out! Patty was a large snake and should have weighed around 26 pounds according to the vet but weighed 9 pounds seven ounces. It felt like she was hollow when you picked her up. But then again I did not pick her up too much because you would hear things pop and crack I was really hoping to be able to save her, but that was not the case.) I think she would have made a wonderful pet for someone. They also have the vet reports for Oscar,Wing, prayer, Lucky, Amadeus, the 2 baby igs, Baby Dragon, Achilles, and some I have taken from him in the past that did not make it. Now add that to what the cavy rescue has,and the bird rescue, and the animal shelter who took his dog and cats ( I did not even know he had cats!) Oh wait lets not forget the Washington state ferret rescue, which is located at one of my vet offices I know they got some when the animal control raided his house.
He had more animals than I saw!

I hope he gets whats coming to him!
