Help Turtles In Crisis In Asia
Asia is home to a diverse and interesting array of turtle species. Unfortunately many of these turtles are threatened or endangered. One of the biggest problems these reptiles face is harvesting from the wild for food. Over 30 million turtles are harvested in Asia for the food industry every year! This is far different from eating pork, beef, and chicken. These foods are bred for human consumption. Turtles are captured from the wild, then sent away in grossly inhumane conditions to become part of the food industry. This harvesting from the wild has devastating effects on the natural populations of turtles. Please sign the petition below to stop the company Tesco from selling live turtles in their stores. A customer can choose to have the turtle they have purchased butchered alive in the supermarket, or they can choose to take the turtle home to end its life in whatever manner they choose, before cooking and eating it.
