LMAO! Escaped crickets are just something you learn to deal with in this hobby.
Fortunately the lifespan of a cricket is only about 8 weeks! Most of them will die before the next escapees take their place!

Their chirping will annoy you to death - but an escaped cricket is nothing to worry about. They can't hurt you. They give your nice friendly spiders something to keep them going!

Spiders I refuse to feed the spider population at my house!
I have learned to get used to the crickets, but I still dont like them!
What I particularly like is the mealworms, when you drop one and you have to pick it up and it wraps around your finger Yuck, eeewwww, now the hair on the back of my neck is standing straight up

I bought a pair of tongs about 12 inches long to use!! I will not pick up a cricket or a mealworm with my fingers!

My friend at work asked me yesterday if I called the pet store and asked them what is the grossest pet they had!! I had been telling her about my new leopard gecko and how we feed her crickets. I guess she would have to see that sweet little face and watch her stalk the crickets and then before she pounces, she raises up her tail and gives it a little wag to really appreciate why I put up with the crickets!

Heck I dont even use tongs to feed mice and rats to my snakes...just grab a tail and wiggle...lol...of course that has its problems at times...like a tag of my hand on occasion....

I could pick up mice. I have no problem with rodents. My daughter has a little hamster I hold all of the time. Although I would have a harder time feeding a mouse to something than a bug. I would feel bad for the mouse.

I admit, I sometimes do feel a pang for a mouse or a rat - but only briefly. Feeding frozen/thawed cures that.

I really don't have a problem with most bugs. I don't like having to hold the crickets only because they're squirmy and hard to hold in place, expecially if your reptile is a slow eater - but as far as being squeamish, it doesn't really bother me. And I LOVE spiders. They are amazing creatures.

But then, I've often been called strange.
