Anyone watching Kapow! SuperHero Science? |
| This is what our member has to say: It's actually somewhat neat. I've learned a few interesting things..
Thought I'd make mention.... |

Man, I rarely watch TV, but when I do I'm glad I have access.
Appearently, we don't continue to age and after a certain age, we're pretty much what we are. They are trying to find out what causes this so that they can perhaps stop ageing at a younger age.
As awesome as that is, I wonder about what they are doing about life threatening illnesses such as HIV. I haven't seen anything progressive about this in quite some time.

What network is this on? Sounds interesting. (We don't have cable or satellite, but I can get the in-laws to Tivo it for me.)

It was on the Science Channel.
To break it down pretty much, it was taking so called super heros (Hulk, X-men, Spider man) and describing how science is making most of their powers real.
A really interesting one for me was that there's a gene altering chemical (the name escapes me at the moment) that will make your muscles grow and will not deteriorate. So far Mice have been the only studies, but it looks really promising. Just inject into the muscle portion you want to grown and pretty much you will have the big muscle gene.
This is not a steroid.
Now, if they would focus on a fat burner in this sort, that would help a lot of americans.
They didn't say if it would be a recessive trait, but it is encoded into your genetic make up.
Sweet.

I wish I got that channel. I'd really love to see that show. I did some similar papers while I was in high school, although it was more along the lines of how science disproves that certain things can be done. For instance, I wrote one in physics on why capes should never be used when in a high action confrontation.
I like the subject on this much more, though. I love seeing how we get closer and closer to being able to do things we only dreamt of not too long ago. Going through older science fiction shows and books is pretty cool too, because a lot of the stuff they portray for the future, we have now.
