Several questions about several species
Hi!
In the last few months my collection has grown substantially.
In September I brought 10 new animals (6 Bearded Dragons and 4 crested geckos) from Germany's Hamm expo and last month I got 3 more leopard geckos. The same person that gave me my first leo couldn't keep them anymore so when he offered them to me, I couldn't say no.
So now I have 19 reptiles at home (see details on my sig). I'm having trouble selling 3 Bearded Dragons now so I think I might also have problems selling 2 Crested Geckos and an extra dragon later.
Looking at the worst case scenario, I must prepare for the eventuality of having to house them all, as adults, until I can sell them.
Now they are all in their own enclosure because most of them are babies or juvies. I don't have space to upgrade their enclosures to full adult size requirements if I have to keep them all so I need to plan and rethink my housing scheme now before their growth outruns me!
Leopard geckos
Two days ago I introduced the lone leo female to the other two. They seemed to get along fine as I monitored their activity throughout the day. I'll be keeping an eye on their weight for the next weeks. Their enclosure is almost 3'x2' so there's plenty of space.
- Can I add the older male to the trio or will they breed even if not cooled?
Bearded dragons
I was thinking about housing all the females together as soon as they stabilize in the 30-40cm size. They will be roughly the same size but will have different weights.
- Do any of you keep females together? They're not community animals like Leopard Geckos, what's their social dynamic? Do they tend to get along?
- And what about adding the older male later to the female group? Will they breed even if not cooled?
Thanks for your help! =)
Ricardo

Hello,
Wow Ricardo, you have a zoo in the making over there!

You have a 98% chance that they will mate even if not cooled.

There is a good chance they will breed even if not cooled. Some will, some won't! It WILL be a gamble. lol
I don't house multiple females, so I am not certain on the first half of your question.

As far as the Bearded Dragons, I kept 4 females together with no problems. Usually as long as they are similar in length, weight wont be an issue. Just make sure you feed plenty of veggies and when feeding insect, feed them seperatley to insure everyone eats. If you put a male in with the females they will breed whether they are cycled or not. If you dont want babies, keep him seperated at all times.
For the Leopard Geckos, I house 2 females together with no issues, just watch for dominancy and feeding issues. Same goes for the Bearded Dragons.

You draw the line here....until someone gives you another offer that you can't refuse...
I have housed leopard geckoes together in the past but I don't anymore because I'm paranoid, not because of anything they have done, i just dont always trust them.
As for Bearded Dragons i've seen it done sucessfully and i've seen it done the way dumb petstore owners do it, it usually ends out with one dominant one and the rest with no feet or tail tips from the alpha chewing them off. I trust you would keep a more loving caring eye on them so I wouldnt be worried.

Nah! Lucky for me, I don't owe favors to anyone else, Lacey =)
What do you mean about not trusting them?
Petstore owners house Bearded Dragons together in small, inadequate enclosures, giving them a poor diet with meager rations and high levels of stress.
It's easy not to do that but without previous experiences, I'm not familiar with any possible caveats.

I currently have three Bearded Dragons sharing the same large cage. I was afraid at first because one was a bit smaller, but I have had no problems. If I see someone becoming more dominant, I change the cage around a bit and this seems to settle things down. At times they will be in their own little corner at other time all three will be in a pile together. LOL
I have some of my female leo's together also. They seem to do fine together. We just keep an eye on them to make sure everyone is ok

I have 2 Bearded Dragons together too. And they aren't even close in size yet... I still keep an eye on them and probably wouldn't house them together yet if it wasn't for the fact that they get stressed and won't eat if they are separated... my suggestion would be to let them socialize prior to actually putting them together for good. See how they do on neutral territory.

Maybe I could bathe them together... see how they do there first.

My friend had 2 female Leopard Geckos together, and 1 male they seemed ok and then the male ended up dead a couple weeks later. he was bleeding from his tail and rectum, it was really bad.
