I'm not sure of that myself. You can send a letter to the manufacturer on the label and ask for an MSDS. That's a Material Safety Data Sheet. There are different glue sticks on the market which can contain silicones, resins and formaldehydes. All with varying levels of toxins as well. If you search for MSDS lists on the web it's a good start.

Most of the products for home use have safe exposure levels. The industrial grade products usually you need to wear gloves and a mask to prevent skin contact and inhalation. But talking on a herp exposure level as long as the product is cured and is not eaten they should be safe. The toxins come more into question when they are sitting constantly in a water feature that the herp would drink from.

I was actually just curious for people levels to...I was thinking some time in the future not really soon when I get a better size rubermaid for a humid hide I was going to coat it with reptile carpet to make it a little more natural looking. So it wouldn't be anywhere where anyone could touch it but I was just wondering in general too...Or what I should use...that and I want to build a stand but I don't think I'd use hot glue for that...How do you "cure" something?

For the carpet the hot glue should be fine. You don't have to worry about the toxins after it has cured. Cured is basically just the term used to describe that the product has fully dried. With hot glue that would be very quickly. But you still wouldn't want to apply it inside the enclosure with the reptile still in there. Other products such as resin epoxy are two compounds mixed together that create a "hot" reaction. They are more toxic until fully cured and give off quite a smell.

I think it will be ok just make sure that it is completely dry and you should have no issues

Well I could put my nose on the glue while it's falling out of the gun and I don't think I'd smell anything...and does the stuff really 'cure' enough because it's not like it completely hardens it just goes back to a gel
