Reptile Magazines

What is your opinion on subscribing to Reptile Magazines?

With so much info available on the net (we pay a subscription to access the net, so we can't call it "free" information) is there a valid reason for subscribing to a Magazine?

It seems that a simple Search would give you all the info and pics you want - including various opinions from different experts. Plus, we have great sites such as this one!

Thoughts?

My thoughts are this...most people can access the web, but some cant or wont for whatever reason...its nice to have a good magazine out there offering the proper care and husbandry of the reptiles we can own...stories about those we cant or want to own and so on and so forth....

I myself subscribe and enjoy every issue...just my thoughts...

Also it's easier to transport a magazine if you want to take it with you somewhere and read the latest on reptile husbandry...not all of us have laptops, so a book or magazine would be our only option for travel. Not to mention it's hard to curl up on the couch on a cold rainy day with a cup of cocoa and a computer. Magazines are much cozier

I don't subscribe to any but i've considered it. I don't see a reason not to because it is justanother tool that can be used to further educate yourself and others on proper reptile keeping.

Don't get me wrong - I would like to subscribe to one, I just can't justify the expense with paying for Cable internet where I can get the same information.

I am not downing anyone who subscribes to them. I have a couple of snake books I keep in the bathroom for "library time", and wouldn't mind some mags as well. Just can't bring myself to pay for them.

Anyone want to mail me your used back issues????

haha we don't get that magazine here.... but I would subscribe. I like having a pile of mags...they never get old...

and internet here is quite expensive... use the phone line...so you are paying normal phone call rates to go online. But lol I would still get it even if I was in the states..

but a real good think to subscribe to is a good herp journal. All new breakthroughs in the scientific world are published in them..new species descriptions, taxonomy etc....

One nice thing about magazines is that THEY come to YOU. Meaning that sometimes you will run across information that you never would have thought to search for on the internet. Plus you can read them in the bathtub...

I don't subscribe to any reptile magazines, but I have thought about it.

I like hard copies, if I have a choice between reading on the screen or on paper, paper wins out every time. As far as printing them out, yeah, if you hole punched and placed them into a binder that'd work, but anything that I print normally ends up in the shred pile, and not some orderly file system.

I enjoy magazines, and as you said they make a nice bathroom library, for those uhh, unfortunately long quiet sits alone.

Sure, but the expense of ink and paper (especially if you print with color ink) would then eat up anything you've saved by not paying for a magazine subscription. And glossy magazine pictures are much prettier than printed off ones.
