I have positive news FINALLY!

After I cleaned out my Tokay geckos tank the other day because I thought there were spider mites there, I decided to try feeding mealworms again since I cleaned all the crickets out and had some left from my newt. He LOVES them! I have a dozen crickets now in a glass vase thing, but he doesn't like that. I was hoping I could feed him crickets like that to keep the cage clean, but I don't see that happening. But at least he finally tried the mealworms! I put six more in there this morning and when I came back this afternoon...GONE ALREADY! Well, I am hoping he will eat the crickets out of the vase soon...but I don't know. I think he is afraid to go in it.

Anyway, I CLEANED EVERYTHING in the tank I scrubed and boiled and baked and scrbbed some more. I even had to throw away a driftwood thing, but I got new... I don't have live plants anymore, so it looks plain...but at least there are no bugs. I am not sure if they were mites because I don't see any on my gecko...I was going to try soaking him...he was way stressed so I am waiting to see if they come back and maybe them I will take him to the vet instead of soaking cause I don't if I could handle that.

Oh yeah, did I tell you while I was scrubbing things up...HE GOT OUT HIS BUCKET!!! I had him in a large 10 gallon bucket with bark and a log hide (that wasn't in the tank) I used a wire top so he had air and then put the bucket to over that so he had air and privacy...WELL, I decided half way through to check on him to make sure he couldn't get out (cause I said to Dave~who helped me get Trouble out>"Are you sure he can't escape?" OH NO HE SAYS!) I go in there and he is clinging to the outside of the bucket! So I put the gloves on and I sneak up~he is watching me the whole time~ and then carfully pick up the bucket to try and put it in this large box....NOPE He jumps off like he is superman and runs up the wall! I SCREAMED lol and shut the door so he didn't have the WHOLE house to roam if I couldn't catch him...and I had trouble grabbing him with the gloves, but when he ran across the floor I got him and he was ****ED! He bit me (luckily I had gloves) and it still felt like a hard pinch through these THICK gloves...I HOPE I NEVER GET BIT WITOUT GLOVES! I still had his cage outside being cleaned so I had to put him back in the bucket, but his time I put something heavy over top so he couldn't slide thelid and get out again! What a day that was!

Sooo, I am keeping a look out for bugs and hoping they don't come back, but if they do I know I won't do that again...I will make sure trouble doesn't get out

Hahaha, sounds like you had a fun little chase! I always enjoy them . Glad to hear you got rid of the mites or "bugs" and yay for him eating mealworms!

Tokay wrangling should be an olympic sport, I got pretty good at it because I was careless in leaving their tank lid ajar....
