Bad petstore strikes AGAIN

So that petstore that my frogs got the two types of parasites from struck again. I was in there checking up, since they had a 1.5 foot long "golden" skink in a 10 gallon cage in march. So I went in, they had a FULLY GROWN tokay gecko in a FIVE GALLON CAGE. I also noted that the frilled dragons they had, which were totally healthy and happy last december, have had Metabolic Bone Disease for the last month. When I asked for them to do something about it, they did nothing and said "they would get on it". Since I've given them two warnings, I called the humane society's anonymous tip line (they can call me back but the offending party will not know who did it).

The pet chain has had the money to open 3 new stores in 6 months and upgrade another two, as my understanding is. I do know for a FACT that they have upgraded one (like moved to a new location with it with expensive new equipment) and opened two new stores. Why is it they can do that but somehow don't do anything about the aweful store they have now?

Not to mention the girl I talked to was giving me TONS of attitude.

This seems to be a problem in other towns, not just mine. We have two petstores, which I have now decided I will not go to unless its urgent. Heres the specs:
Full grown Savannah Monitor-10Gal.
full grown Nile Monitor-10Gal.
A $75.00 Leopard Gecko-10Gal. with100 Degree tank temp (All of it).
Mountain Horned Lizard-Mouth rot, living with another male.
African Lungfish (2Feet at least) 20 Gal.
Thats just what I can remember,
I tell them all the time as well, turn the heat down, needs a bigger cage, why so much poop, 2 full grown Bearded Dragons in a 29 gallon tank isn't good, shed problem on that one, that one, and that one....what do I get....oh yeah your right. Come in there a day, week, MONTH later.....guess what? The Leo is still 75 bucks and is still in a bbq, the dragons are aggressive--probably cause of the small tank, Savannah still can touch both ends of the tank...it never fails with these people. The other pet store, well thats another story...they were remodeling, had all the cages in the middle, the A/C running, and all the heat lamps and heat pads unplugged. . . baby bearded dragon, monitors, ball pythons, iguanas, water dragons, all chillin' at a nice and breazy 65DEGREES! To tell you the truth, I don't know what to do about it, just hate to inform you that its in a lot of places...not just your town....wheres the humane society when it comes to reptiles?

Pet stores aren't the best at taking care of animals. But still, that is not an excuse for bad treatment. The other day we were looking for female Crested Geckos. We came to a store that had them but they didn't know the sex. So we said we would find out for them. The said no, It was not good at handeling. We said they should handel it more BUT NO!!! Pets stores should take care of there animals more.

Not to be skeptical, but I sincerely doubt you could fit a Savannah monitor in a 10 gallon...physically, I think it would be impossible.

Nile moniters are definately too big for a 10 gallon, their heads alone would fill almost all the tank! (at least the one at the San Diego wild animal park is like that).

The SPCA (animal cruelty people) are gonna go check on them within 3 days. However, they are the kind of people that says "Well, just do better next time" and does nothing about it. Funny story, the pet store where my girlfriend works is immaculate and very well done. The section she works in, small animals, was JUST cleaned thoroughly...5 minutes later the SPCA came in and failed them for cleanliness and animal cruelty, yet the pet store she works at rescued a kitten from them that was going to be put down because it was "very mean". The TWO MONTH OLD KITTEN fell asleep on my shoulder, in my arms and was purring as soon as you touched it. How was this animal too mean? Oh wait, it wasn't but they are jerks. Nothing will come of this, I think, which is terrible.

I know most places are aweful. The SPCA here are nazi's, seriously, but very hypocritical. The SPCA jumped once I said a Tokay in a 5 gallon, it was awesome.

Yeah I think the gal size might be miscalculated on that. Usually around my area the smaller pet stores are the horrible ones. The larger ones like Superpet seem to have it together.
