I played my cards great,,,,,,got all my kids addicted to my addiction,,,,uhhh I mean hobby....Now I got them cleaning cages, feeding and watering the herps !!! As a rule, we do not attempt to treat the herps like a dog or a cat, they do not need or require the attention they do. As Merlin stated, a clean cage, fresh water, and a proper feeding schedule is all that is required. Emotion does not play into the equation. Just my opinion.

Ooooh my daily routine lol

Get up 8am (ish lol)
Kettle on while I go turn lights on - my timers are only used for holidays.
Remove water and food bowls from all tanks and tubs and stick them in a bucket with disinfectant
Make coffee and get kids up
Make breakfast for the kids
Scrub all dishes and rinse them well
Refill water bowls and replace
Refill salad bowls where necessary and worm bowls where necessary and replace
Spot clean vivs
spend an hour or 2 with the kids - getting them washed and dressed and watching our morning TV lol
Check leo vivs for eggs as my females are still laying!
Play with Bearded Dragon and hand feed Bearded Dragon and starred agama to tyr to tam them both down a bit - my Bearded Dragon is a psycho!
Offer hand feeding to chams although they don't take it lol
Mist all chams, golden geckos and flying gecko
Check snakes and spot clean their tubs
Make dinner for kids
Relax all afternoon
Make tea for hubby when he finishes work
Recheck vivs and tubs for poop that may need cleaning!
Handle Leopard Geckos for half an hour early evening
Handle snakes if not been fed for 15 minutes or so each
Spend an hour with my hubby
go to bed!

I enjoy caring for my reps and while my daily routine sounds tedious to most of my friends who want to know why I wont go out shopping and stuff I wouldn't chnge it for the world.

Obviously, some days I have other things that need doing - like housework lmao or going out but I don't worry too much about swaying the routine because ultimately I keep wild animals who don't really worry if for one day they don't get handled or don't get the usual attention.

Just have to try to fit more itme in for my hubby now lmao

I'm lucky, in that my critters are currently all at the library where I work. And I have no end to the supply of teens, etc., who are willing to learn how to take care of them. In general, I make sure it's cool with their parents if they work with the critters. Then I have them watch me do the tank maintenance, feeding, etc. a couple times. Then I watch them a couple of times (to make sure they were paying attention). After that, if I am comfortable with it, all they have to do is check with me (to make sure it needs done) before they do anything. Right now I have 12 or 13 kids who are "certified" by me to help care for the library critters.
